Boxing Day Bargain Hunting!

I always like to go out the day after Christmas to bag all those post-holiday sales on next year’s paper, cards and decorations. There are usually throngs of like minded shoppers at my local Walmart or Target but I always like to stand out from the crowd by keeping comfortable but still stylish. For me a large purse like my tan Michael Kors leather satchel is a good choice. This type of bag is a true classic and its best feature is the cross shoulder strap so I can keep both hands free to dig into those half-off bins of ribbons and bows. I prefer shopping at Target as they are a bit higher level usually. And today I actually scored some clearance rack clothes with a downloaded 20% coupon to sweeten the deal! Of course when the register topped the $300 mark it may have dampened my enthusiasm just a tad but “’tis the season!”

Michigan is experiencing an unseasonably pleasant stretch of weather so I was actually able to wear my short leather look skirt. This is usually unheard of this close to the New Year but I’m certainly not complaining! It is winter though so I wore my appropriately themed reindeer print blouse. Coordinating with the leather look skirt is a denim jacket with leather trim accents.
Not wanting to look completely biker chic while still keeping warm I toned this outfit down and added a bit of color by covering up with a big burgundy knitted wrap. I have to confess that I don’t have the time or ambition to wash my hair every day so if I’m in between shampoos I often wear a hat to help compensate for any unruliness! For this outfit I played with both an orange wool hat with purple band and also a dark green fedora. It was an easy choice since they both worked equally as well.

Orange with Purple Wool Hat @Saks Off 5th Avenue
Dark Green Fedora @Lord & Taylor
Purple Knitted Wrap @Forever 21
Denim and Faux Leather Jacket @Kohl’s
Leather Look Skirt @Nordstrom Rack
Boots @DSW

Cheers!
