The last few New Year’s Eves we have celebrated the “out with the old and in with the new” at a local comedy club. Mark Ridley’s Comedy Castle in Royal Oak, MI has done a great job supplying party hats, noisemakers, a splash of bubbly and lots of laughs! This has been a great way to unwind and let go of the past year’s baggage. There’s absolutely nothing like laughing until you cry to put a nice finishing touch on the hectic and busy holiday season!
This is my second post for a great look that’s suitable for helping the New Year roar in with style! I’ve had this black sweater dress in my closet for some time but thought it was just right to break out for this outfit. The first post in my New Year’s look series had a more classic and classy feminine feel. This time I wanted to loosen up a bit. The mid length dress is season appropriate and added the touch of edge I was looking for. I have always loved animal prints and was thrilled to recently bag these leopard print booties and clutch purse to spice up the basic black.
Animal print accessories and coats are a timeless and essential addition to anyone’s wardrobe. The leopard pattern is one of my favorites and adds a bit of color without any clash. If you’re still bargain hunting to fill the safari section of your wardrobe, you could easily use a bright color purse and some black booties or heeled pumps with equally successful results. I used another of my signature pearl necklaces; but this time went with a long single strand design. I blinged it up a bit with an accompanying bright metal chain necklace to help keep it chic and modern. I really wanted to tone down the formal feel so the grey sweater jacket with leather accents made sure I wasn’t taken too seriously! After all, you never want to look like you’re trying too hard. This look was right on target for me by coming off as easy and effortless.
