Video – How to Organize your Closet

This goes here, that goes there…or else!

I like to be organized. No, that’s not strong enough. I MUST be organized! It helps me with every aspect of my life. At work I have a daily planner that has every page completely filled. If it goes in the planner it happens. If I don’t have time to finish everything that’s on the page of the day it goes to the next day until it gets checked off. My coworkers even make fun of me a bit but I think they’re just jealous at my superior organizing skills! It does cause some small problems though, especially when I have to deal with someone who isn’t quite as disciplined as I am! That would be my husband of course! Although he has gotten a lot better since we’ve been married but I still have to make frequent “suggestions” when a pile of mail or stack of newspapers sits too long. The same policy of everything in its proper place goes for my wardrobe too. I like to keep my clothes sorted by season, style and color. You’d be surprised how much time this can save day to day. If you’d like to see an example you’re in luck! I just posted my latest video showing exactly how and why I keep my closet in order while saving time in the process. Your short time spent will be paid back every morning! I hope you enjoy it.

Cheers!

How to style a Cape Escape

Do I have to go to work?

Well I want to offer congratulations to Katy Perry for her great concert on TV yesterday! Oh, and I guess the New England Patriots won some sort of game too! I heard on the radio the other morning that someone is actually trying to get the Monday after the Super Bowl recognized as a national holiday. As much as I like long weekends it makes you wonder where this may lead. Would people want the day off every time there may be a hangover involved? Maybe you’d get off the day after St. Patrick’s Day or the day after you pay your income taxes? Hmmm, when I first started writing this post these were sounding ridiculous but now that I’m thinking of it, I’m starting to warm to the idea! I could definitely use a day to recover from the excitement after I find some great shoes on clearance; or when I’ve walked a half marathon at the local outlet center! After all, this is America! I thought we were supposed to be able to pursue happiness! I’m feeling very patriotic now!

Growing up in China we didn’t have Superman or Batman comics or movies but that didn’t stop me from always wanting a cape. For me I’m reminded of the standard cliché image for an old English gentleman or lady. I did read some of the classic English novels and always pictured this look in my imagination. So I’ve been searching for a long time for just the right piece. My perseverance finally paid off when I found one last week. Not only did I find just what I’d been looking for but it was on SALE! I was so happy I did my endzone dance and spiked my credit card! It didn’t have the same effect as on TV though and the salesclerk gave me the strangest look!

Now that I had my focus piece clear I wanted to keep the rest of the look clean and crisp. The charcoal color of the cape is a classic go to color when paired with white so that made my decision easy. To keep with the upper crust theme I chose a two tone white & grey cotton button down shirt over my white skinny jeans. I didn’t want to be totally stuffy and proper so made sure the skinnies landed in the fun zone. Plenty of blingy zippers made sure I was right on target and added a contrasting modern touch. You can see more look of this pair of white jeans here. I’ve had my Tommy Hilfiger herringbone and leather boots for many years and knew they’d fit the look like they’d been made for it. I think this outfit looks like just the thing for a nice gallop through the woods. Now if only I had a horse! My mix of fun and proper carried over to my accessories with my color pop orange hat with purple band. Finishing strong I grabbed my light creamy pink quilted leather purse and two tone tan and black leather gloves. I hope you’ll agree that this outfit was a real score!
