A great day to relax, take it easy, sleep in…WHAT?!?!?!? Valentine’s Day is a WEEK from today? It’s OK, I’m here for you! This is the second of my four video series of Valentine’s looks to fit your mood and personality. The first one was for a Sunshine Valentine. I featured bright bold colors and styles. Today, I’m toning things down a bit. We will be going in a softer sweeter direction. Light pastel shades of colors will be the focus here. These looks will be just the thing for a younger woman who is looking for that just right outfit to wear to a dinner date. Here in Michigan it’s still looking pretty white and grey outside but these soft colors will remind you of the spring that will soon be here. So get another cup of coffee or tea and sit back and relax. There’s no need to panic, if you haven’t seen something to fit your mood in these first two videos I still have a couple more to come before the big day. Thanks and enjoy!
I’ve only been to a few other states since I moved to America but I can’t imagine that any of them have worse roads or bigger potholes than Michigan. My husband has lived here his whole life and he assures me that this is probably true. I’ve heard that part of the reason is the freezing and thawing and freezing again that happens with our weather. I’ve also heard they let super heavy trucks on the roads here that they don’t in other states. That may be but doesn’t explain why even the streets in my neighborhood seem to be falling apart. It’s pretty much impossible to avoid all the cracks and holes and they aren’t very healthy for our cars. We just had to get new tires AND wheels for my car because they were so bent and damaged that I had a flat tire about 3 times a week! Luckily my husband was driving when we hit the biggest pothole so I made sure he paid for the replacements! They say in Michigan there are only 2 seasons; winter and construction season! The roads fall apart all winter and then we have to dodge orange barrels and closed lanes the rest of the year while they get ready for the next freeze! I’m not sure what they use but I’ve had nail polish that’s lasted longer than some of the repairs! Our tax dollars at work!
I’m starting to wrap up my Valentine’s Day suggestion special posts. Over the next few days I will finish the series. Hopefully you have your wining and dining plans all set and your wardrobe planned. If not, I have a couple more possibilities. Today, I’ve pulled another sweater dress out of my closet. As you loyal readers know I live in an area where you don’t need a boat to go fishing in winter, you just walk out on the lake! My dress today is a rich wine color and has a stylish gathered cinch in the front to help put my curves where they belong. This feature adds a bit of texture and shape to keep the dress more interesting. The hem also narrows to accentuate and flatter my figure. The solid color on the dress is a perfect backdrop for my oversized multi row pearl and gold chain necklace. A large busy necklace like this can be too cluttered with a dress with a pattern or multiple colors but is just the thing to add a splash to the sea of wine.
Keeping it classy and classic, I went with black tights and leather heels. This is just the right outfit for an upscale night out. I wanted to make sure I didn’t lower the bar so grabbed my leather and leopard pattern clutch. The shiny metal chain strap was a natural complement to the necklace and added just the right amount of color contrast to the mix. Braving the cold was a lot more comfortable and chic with my long tan cashmere coat with fur collar. I actually found this piece at a local thrift store and immediately knew I’d struck gold, or at least cashmere! A neon splash of orange lipstick my white oversize sunnies added those welcome finishing touches. Valentine’s Day may need a vacation to recover!
