Let’s get straight to the point!
When I was young and growing up in China, I was a bit of a tough girl. I didn’t care much what I said or whose feelings got hurt. The Chinese are known for not being very tactful in the way that most westerners are, but I was sometimes brutally honest and straight forward. Now that I’m a few years older, I’ve definitely mellowed. I started to pay attention to other people’s feelings. I think I finally learned to put myself in other people’s shoes, not that I don’t have enough of my own! This has helped me when I’m building my outfits for my posts too. I try to make choices in my wardrobe that I hope are useful for you when you’re deciding what to wear. I don’t just put on these clothes for a photo shoot either. I wear these outfits to my job or on a weekend when I’m shopping and visiting friends. I often get comments and compliments and that makes me feel like just maybe, I got it right.
I’m always drawn to a rock and roll kind of vibe but never feel comfortable going too far with it. I like the edginess of the punk look but still have to be ready to get my job done or make a good impression. So I make sure to soften the harder edges by balancing my look with some decidedly feminine pieces. Basically, I’ve learned that it’s very important in everything to have a good balance. Whether it’s shutting off my computer to spend some time with my family and friends, or going for a massage to just unwind, I find that if I don’t find that balance it’s easy to get burned out.
Today my focus piece is razor sharp with my brown leather studded jacket. There’s no doubt this is a bad girl piece with the pointed spikes on the shoulders. I kept the color palette going with very cool fitted brown skinny jeans. Going bad to the bone, I grabbed my skull and brass knuckle themed clutch bag. So where’s the balance to all toughness? I have it from top and bottom! A soft white cotton pullover made sure to keep things from getting too serious. I kept my hair under control with a very girlish hair band to add a bit of youthful fun. And if you ever want to know what it’s like to walk in my shoes, you’ll need a pair of ever cool leopard heels!
