How to style ripped boyfriend jeans!
I will be on my vacation from 3/20 to 3/28. You will still see my new post everyday but I will not be able to reply to your comments during those times. I will get back to you ASAP after I am back from my vacation.
Enjoy my daily fashion updates and my driving story.
See you and have a great day!
We see the ripped jeans all over the world. They are not the fashion just for teens but also can be worn by us more experienced women. But the key is to look put together and polished. Today I am going to challenge this trend by pairing with a girly top and jacket to make it more elegant.
My driving story continues below. Enjoy the ride! 🙂
You can teach a new driver old tricks!
As you hopefully know, I’ve been posting about when I learned how to drive. This was hard enough for someone who had never sat in a driver’s seat but learning with a car that had a manual shifter added to the difficulty. It wasn’t absolutely terrible if I was starting off on a flat road or even going downhill a bit. But it was nearly impossible for me to get going when I was going uphill. And that’s where I was: Stopped at a red light at the top of a hill. I had been in this situation before at a stop sign but that was on a small empty side street. Although this wasn’t the main road through town it was a lot busier than the others I had been practicing on. Luckily I also knew there was a trick to get going without rolling backwards into the cars behind me: When I couldn’t start off at that stop sign, my husband/instructor pulled up the hand brake to keep the car from moving. This then meant I was able to give it enough gas to stop it from stalling. Here, at a pretty busy intersection I knew this was a good time to reuse this method. I looked at my husband with an expression that communicated with total clarity that this was not the time for debate. He pulled up the parking brake lever while I concentrated on getting us moving through the intersection.
I was feeling pretty good about myself. I had just started off from a hill without stalling. I know, I had gotten some help, but figured I had still done most of the driving by myself. Maybe I was getting better at this. Oh good, another stop sign. A little gas, let the clutch out slowly, and…stall. Really? REALLY? What was that noise? It was coming from the next seat. My husband/driving teacher was trying to mask it with a fake cough but he had been laughing. It may have been quiet, almost silent. Almost. But I heard it. After all, with me stalling the car, again, we didn’t have all that noise from the motor to cover it up. I asked him what was so very funny about me stupid stalling this stupid car with the stupid manual transmission for about the seven hundredth stupid time? Still laughing, he said that he thought I was cute when I got angry. My first thought was that this was his lucky day. If I was cute when I was angry then I was about to get top model gorgeous mad at him!
But then I started to smile. And that turned into a laugh. This was crazy but it was funny too. Here I was, an adult Chinese woman living in a country half way around the world from where I grew up. I was sitting in a car next to a man I never expected to meet, much less marry. I was learning a new culture, a new language and how to drive a car. This guy was trying to teach me something he had done so long he didn’t even think of it. And was actually doing a pretty good job. It wasn’t his fault that the only car we owned had a manual shifter. When he bought it he was only concerned with getting the best gas mileage he could, not in teaching a Chinese woman to drive. He knew it was making a difficult process even harder and he was trying to be patient. In fact, his patience and understanding nature were what got my attention in the first place. A lot of foreigners won’t spend the time to try to communicate with the people who live in the country they are visiting. They just sort of expect those people to understand them. But my husband had done a lot of international travel for his job and was pretty sensitive to other people and cultures. And he had a great sense of humor which he often uses to calm down tense situations. So it was that he softly squeezed my hand, leaned over and gave me a quick kiss on the cheek, smiled and sweetly said, “start the stupid car”. The lessons continue! But not today!
