They got it right Detroit fashion bloggers
Are you still following celebrities for fashion and style inspirations? Oh no! If so, you’re already out of date! 😉 In fact, nowadays fashion bloggers are the new cool kids on the block and already are at the leading edge of the trends all over the world.
This is my 9th month blogging and I often complained that I am just about the only fashion blogger in Michigan. I felt so lonely! I’d read about Blogger conferences and meet ups in New York, L.A., Miami, London, Outer Mongolia or Iowa or other strange places but not here in the Detroit area. Until about two weeks ago. That was when I got an email that made me start to think maybe I wasn’t as unique as I thought! It seemed that the desert island I saw myself on was actually just a quiet patch of beach around the corner from the crowd. One thing led to another and last Sunday I went to my (hopefully first of many) brunch meet up with some sister fashion bloggers; all from the Detroit area. I was super excited and surprised that there were that many fashion bloggers near me in fact. How many? There were totally 15 fabulous ladies who showed up! I’m guessing we had the best dressed brunch in the history of southeast Michigan. Lol!
I am still super excited and can’t wait for next month’s meet up. So for today’s “They Got It Right” I will run things a little bit differently. I will give all those fabulous Michigan fashion bloggers a shout out! So sit back, enjoy the show and be sure to visit them and say hi!
First, our host for this great event, Jordan Blackwell! She is the first one on the right in this photo above.
Jordan is a Wardrobe Consultant, Engineer and founder/curator behind Lil Miss JB Style-a wardrobe consulting agency and virtual resource dedicated to helping the everyday woman find practical and affordable ways to be more stylish. She just launched a FREE eBook-How to Work What You’ve Got.
Now I will just follow the order of the group photo, starting from left to right.
Jordana Paige from http://jordanapaige.com
Jordana just moved to Michigan about 3 months ago for love. How sweet is that! It had to be for love, she moved from sunny California so there’s no way it was for the weather! She is a fashion hand bag designer and a fashion blogger. Jordana is crazy about organization so all her designs are very practical to meet a busy women’s daily life needs while still looking very chic!
Alexis Kelly from http://thatchiclex.blogspot.com
Alex is currently a fashion merchandising student at CMU. And she was featured by http://www.collegefashionista.com/style-guru-style-meet-the-midi-dress/ for the style guru!
Three sisters from http://styletrifecta.com
styleTRIFECTA chronicles the lives and personal styles of three sisters with three distinct personalities, and even more distinct body types. Always complimented on their styles, Aleesa, Taria & Char are excited to share their takes on [plus size] fashion with the world.
With backgrounds in interior, graphic and costume design, the ladies of styleTRIFECTA consider the elements of design in all they do. Fusing their design experience, love for fashion, and zest for life only seemed right, and years after a brainstorming meeting in a midtown-Detroit coffee shop, styleTRIFECTA is finally a reality.
Courtney Miarka from https://thestyledlife.com. She was a first grade teacher and she just quit her job to pursue her fashion dream of Wardrobe Consultant and became one of the founders of The Styled Life. She is my idol already just for having the courage to do what we all are dreaming of! Courtney’s mission is to aspire to create a world in which everyone will no longer utter the phrase, “I have nothing to wear!”
Bruno Camargo from http://style-mile.com
Here is a brief intro about her:
For as long as I remember, my older sister would catch me playing dress-up in her clothes. After growing up with a love for quirky fashion and all things fabulous, I finally decided to launch StyleMile in March of 2012.
My name is Bruna Camargo, and I’m a Brazilian girl living in the suburbs of Detroit, MI. StyleMile is my unique expression and my way of having fun with my (always-growing) wardrobe. I strive to inspire readers to discover their own style just as I’m always evolving mine.
Leah J. Vernon from https://beautyandthemuse.wordpress.com Here are some things to know about her:
Leah V., Wardrobe Stylist, Freelance Writer, and Fashion Blogger.
I’m an African-American Muslim living in the D (Detroit). I have many roles, some of which include wardrobe styling, fashion curating, and creative writing. I style all sizes, plus or straight, demure or bizarre.
Eden from http://www.chicinthetropics.com. She is very funny and outgoing, and also has a very cute 8 month old son! Here is more about her:
I’m an actor, filmmaker and occasional fashion and beauty professional born and raised in Cebu, Philippines but now based in Metro Detroit, Michigan. I may have moved to a place with sub-zero temperatures, but I’ll always be that girl from the tropics. This is my personal space where you’ll see my outfit posts, inspirations, works, and other adventures in trying to make it in America.
Narita from http://lalatrips.com. She is a burgeoning singer- songwriter and fashion blogger. I love her cool and urban vibe very much!
Marina Elder from http://www.wildhalo.co. She is currently a pre-med student at the University of Michigan. Here are some more facts about her:
I chose to go to college to pursue a carrier in the medical field doesn’t mean I have to give up my fashion dreams. So I’m not! I made this blog, to have some sort of connection to fashion. This blog is a way for me to have the best of both worlds, and be able to do everything I’ve always wanted to do in life.
Dana Frost from http://www.closet-confessional.com. I love her polished style and she is also my idol as well because she is a fighter! Here is more about her:
To many, fashion is superficial and frivolous. Those are the people who think a blog about style is a waste of time, especially after going through something as life changing as the big C. To me, fashion is art, a creative form of expression, and most importantly, an outlet that makes me happy. To me, fashion is joy.
And after cancer, you learn that finding that joy, in whatever way possible, is never a waste of time.
I am so happy to find my blogger sisters now! Have a great Friday everybody!
