NYFW16 Leanne Marshall fall and winter collection fashion show
In April, 2007, I moved to America from China to marry my man. My new life started then. It began with learning English and the culture of my new home. The best way for me to do that was watching American TV shows. Quickly I discovered and was hooked on a little show called Project Runway. You may have heard of it. I always dreamed of being a fashion designer so I was so pumped up by that show. And that was where I first “met” Leanne Marshall who was the winner of Project Runway Season 5 in 2008.
Since day one, Leanne Marshall already had her signature layers, ruffles and architecture silhouette look on her skirts and dresses. And it’s worked. She mainly focused on her theme and has become more famous because of it. I started to see the effortlessly elegant vibe from her design since 2013. And her 2016 fall and winter collection, which showed a few days ago at New York Fashion Week, is totally first class. And I should know; I was there!
Like she said in the past, her dresses are made for movement. It was breathtaking when I saw those beautiful pieces on the runway. The ways they flowed when the models were walking made me think of the goddesses of ancient Greece. Just like a lot of live events, you really have to be there and see it with your own eyes to feel the full experience. I feel very lucky to be invited to this show!
Every year she chooses a different color theme and for this show she went pretty dark. There were a lot of blacks and browns but still with some pops of yellow. She explained that she was finding her inspiration from the leaves of fall.
Nowadays Leanne has become more and more famous with her handmade bridal designs. You can find some super chic and flowy wedding dresses on her website here. Thank you very much for reading and please come back often to see all my NYFW16 fashion show reports!
