How to wear white lace in a modern way?
I have loved lace, since a very early age. Lace is just so feminine, sophisticated and a little bit sexy. But the opposite side is, lace can look a little grandmotherish. Nobody wants to look like that. And I should know. I’m a real grandmother. I would rather not advertise that with my wardrobe. The key is to keep myself looking young forever. 😉
I had an eye on this look bookstore White Lace Two Piece Dress ” target=”_blank”>White Lace Two Piece Dress for a long time on the Lookbook Store website. I’m always nervous about online ordering but after good luck with my first 3 items from this awesome store, last week I finally decided to just make it happen. You can read my universal black lace up bodysuit with 3 styles, the black lace romper and the grey studded jacket. This time I got not just 1, 2 or 3 items. I went all in and settled on 5 items!!! Hey, it takes 5 fingers on your hand to hold your credit card securely. Coincidence? I think not! And anyway, I told you I am addicted to this Lookbook Store. Well I wasn’t joking.
Honestly when I first came across this store, I was like, whoa, is this a cleavage convention? I mean there was a bit more skin showing than I’m usually comfortable with. But after taking a closer look, I was pretty confident that I can add the high class vibe that I like and make it elegant. Well maybe a little sexy along with the elegant, which is a very nice combination! As you may have seen in many previous posts of me wearing their items, I think I hit the bulls eye.;)
For this particular two piece, I used the same strategy.
1. Use a trench vest to add the modern vibe and reduce the dressiness. I wore this to one of my grandnieces’s First Communion party. The white lace theme fit in quite well with the feel of the ceremony but the trench vest also made it more appropriate for the pizza parlor after party with all the family members.
2. Layering a shawl over it to add that elegant feeling. I always believe being sexy doesn’t have to include showing too much. I prefer to uncover just the right amount of skin and leave some room for the imagination. 😉
3. Mixing high with low to bring up the class. This is my major approach of style recently. My red LV bag adds the necessary color pop and a welcome high class vibe to this super affordable white lace two piece.
Just try to avoid wearing head to toe lace, that is too much, too stiff and really does look like a grandmother. 😉 A two piece outfit like I am wearing can be a great choice to show some skin but still look classy.
Below are some more white lace pieces that are under $100 for your shopping pleasure.
