What’s up Detroit? A TV host!
In a million years I would never have thought about becoming a TV host. Especially on an English speaking show with my weird Chinese accent. But it seems that it is happening now. I am so grateful for all the amazing things blogging has brought to my life. All of these new and exciting changes and challenges started with an interview/post I did last fall, it was called WHAT’S UP DETROIT ON TV 20 VIEWING PARTY. I covered the viewing party and interviewed the hosts of this new program and after that, as they say, “the rest is history”. What really caught my attention was that their mission was to focus on the positive side of Detroit. There are plenty of places to hear the bad news but I have seen some of the Detroit comeback with my own eyes so their message was exactly in line with what I was seeing.
What’s up Detroit airs on TV 20 Detroit and is just getting ready to kick off on season 2. So what does it mean to me? Craziness!!! Aside from my full time teaching job, part time translation job, almost full time blogging and now this TV gig. I have been super busy. I don’t even know how I am juggling all of these balls but it’s probably better that I don’t even have time to think about it! 😉 Anyway, I have to admit that I am loving it. The whole crew is so much fun to hang out with. I never stop laughing when I am with them.
You can follow my Youtube and Snapchat (colorandgrace) to see more behind the scenes about this TV job. But below are just a few photos to show you a little bit of my new life.
There are so many events. But we always have a good time.
Here are some more pictures from our first group photo shoot. Below are a few photos and a short behind the scenes video.
Our first episode filming
Our season 2 viewing party/filming:
I started to wear more black dresses than before for the TV business. You know I love colors but somehow on TV I just look pretty big. 😉 You know what they say, “if in doubt, wear black”. I got this Black Sleeveless Midi Dress at the Lookbook Store. I had a very similar dress before so I know this cut and style will make my petite body actually look slimmer and taller. But it was hard to see the materials when I ordered it. I thought it was a little bit more formed fabric, but it is very soft and there is not any built in structure like I hoped. I was not sure if my body could handle this tight dress. Lucky I found a black slip dress with spandex from shopbop to wear underneath. And now I finally can wear it with more confidence. The best part? It is only $21 now. 😉
If you know me, you will know I love layering. So for this black dress, I added on this brown suede trench vest to tone down the sexiness and dressy vibe, and make it more casual for day wear. I wore this look for the viewing party and filming.
Below are some suggestions for a cute LBD under $100.
Our show will be on every Sunday. I will post on FB to remind you to tune in. 😉
