How petite woman wear a romper
I know there are a lot of people that like a fun, comfortable romper very much. But I was not that into them last year. And maybe it wasn’t for the best reason, mostly it was because they are not that convenient when it comes time to use the bathroom! It does take longer to undress and it was pretty weird at first when I sat on my toilet basically naked. 😉 The second reason was a bit more practical, it takes skill to put on and take off a romper if you don’t know all the tricks. One time I was pretty much attacked and almost choked in a dressing room by a romper. The romper lost that battle but it wasn’t pretty…
But after seeing so many fabulous girls wearing cute rompers, this year I finally made my move. And, patience not being one of my main super powers, I now have three already. Probably you will see me wearing more this summer. 😉
Somebody said the romper is the best garment for a petite woman. I have to say I totally agree. Because it give us a better proportion and makes us look taller and thinner. But you still need to pay close attention when you choose the right romper for you.
1. Buy the Right Size
Nothing can be as bad for a petite woman than wearing a wrong size garment. Tall girls can get away with a lot of mistakes like this but not us shorties. So make sure the shoulder and the waist fit properly.
2. Make Sure it’s the Right Fit
The right fit is essential when purchasing any piece of clothing, and even more so when it comes to rompers. An ill-fitting romper can highlight unpleasant parts of our body which we hope nobody notices. When in doubt, a good rule is to ensure that the fabric remains loose and draped while cinching the waist.
3. Purchase the Right Length
Rompers come in varying lengths. Petite women should stick to rompers that go above the knee. Aside from the bottom length, rompers can also come in different sleeve lengths. Long-sleeved rompers look elegant and classy, and can also hide some less-than-perfect features.
4. Make sure your piece does it’s job to clinch the waist. For petite woman, the best friend is showing our waist. Although we may not have that hourglass, but we can use certain features to create the illusion of it. I always like to pick a romper with a tie or belt, or just simply with a built-in waist line cut.
5. Buy a Romper for Formal Events
Most people think of a romper as a casual or boho symbol. But they can also have a place at formal events. We have already seen many Hollywood celebrities wearing jumpsuits on the red carpet. Of course their rompers are not the same level that we usually see on the beach. Silk or satin embellished with sequins can make a great nighttime outfit for anyone. I wore this one to a local fashion show.
I found all my rompers at the lookbook store.
Here are some cute rompers for under $100.
