Adult Summertime outdoor Play Trends
When was the last time you played outdoors? I guess there are a lot of people who probably can’t even remember. Life gets so busy and we don’t have time for play. Ralph Waldo Emerson said: “It is a happy talent to know how to play.” I sure don’t have this talent. All I have is working hard to try making money and solve problems. 😉 Luckily, I have a husband who knows how to play and relax. He’s good at it. In fact it’s sort of his superpower! I did stop short though when he wanted to be called the Chillinator!
A few days ago I was engaged in this meaningful campaign called Summertime Play – Play Trends from The Voice of Play. The Voice of Play is an education and advocacy initiative of the non-profit membership association, IPEMA, formed to educate and promote the benefits of children and adult’s free outdoor play and playgrounds. Through the Voice of Play website and social media properties, IPEMA highlights the scientifically proven physical, social, emotional and cognitive benefits of play.
With the “always-on,” stressed-out life that everyone seems to lead these days, time for free, outdoor play has never been more important to de-stress and decompress—for kids and their parents. The experts at IPEMA and the Voice of Play explored the hottest trends in play and found eight of the most exciting ideas for playtime—sure to please the kid in all of us. You can read more about all those 8 PLAYFul Trends 2016 to see what is your favorite trend?
Some of you may already know that my husband is going through some health challenges since last year. So in between our regular jobs and occasional hospital visits, we do try to have some outdoor fun. Life is short, so go out to play! 🙂 This Beyond Childhood trend is quite popular now. Adults want to play like kids on even more fronts—in Astoria, Queens, an adults-only playground is planned for a vacant lot under the Triborough Bridge. Well, I don’t need an adult only playground. Outdoor fun can be everywhere, in your neighborhood, or even your backyard. Below are a few things that I love to do during the summer time for outdoor playing.
I bet you have never seen me like this? Lol! Only playing can bring out my true colors. 😉
We got this set from my Father-in-law. I don’t have to go to a park to play, just my own backyard is good enough.
You know me, I am a fashion blogger, so even when I am playing, I still have a reputation to maintain. But I will not be that ridiculous to wear heels for play. So this cute loose dress from C. Creations Custom Sewing & Design is perfect for the play time. I have interviewed Cheryl Zemke before and you can read here for more amazing designs and her story. This dress is only $65 and Cheryl can customize it for you based on your measurements.
What are you going to play this weekend?:)

Below are some suggestions for the lose dress/sports dress I am wearing in this post. Yes, they are under $100. 😉
