How To: Update Your Beauty Routine For Fall with Meijer
It happens every year; summer winds down and the cool weather slowly (well sometimes in Michigan it’s very quickly) makes its way in. For a summer lover such as me, I try to keep my beautiful warm weather dresses still in my fall wardrobe rotation as long as possible. To do that when the chilly winds blow, I now finally can wear layers more comfortably.
You have seen me wear this lace dress before in the summer.
And below I’m showing how I am transitioning it to the fall.
Beauty routines are a little bit like your closet. A couple of times a year, you need to switch out or add in the pieces that best fit the season and your seasonal skin needs. So today I am teaming up with Meijer to help you freshen up your beauty routine with fall looks for any occasion. This is a sponsored post. All opinions are my own. Meijer is not only our major go to place for grocery shopping, but you can also find some really affordable cosmetics that are every bit as good as at the department stores. If I can save money and look good, that sounds like a win-win to me. I don’t get rid of my entire summer beauty routine, but just add or change a few things. And in case you were wondering if I really use the items I highlight, the answer is yes. All the products I am talking about here are ones I am currently using. Meijer has millions of beauty products but for this post, I will only recommend what I use and love. Let’s start at the top.
Restore your Hair
After a whole summer of long hours of sunlight baking, bleaching and blistering down on us, our hair most likely got heat damage and looks very dry. Just in time to give some relief
Pantene 3 Minute Miracle Moisture Renewal Deep Conditioner comes to the rescue. I have used Pantene products since my high school days in China and I have to honestly say it is the only brand that I trust so much. I even donated my 12 inches of hair I had cut off to them last year to help make wigs for other woman. I use this treatment conditioner 2 or 3 times a week. It melts into your hair and leaves nothing but smooth when you’re done. You can see from the photo below, my hair is pretty healthy and shiny again.
Emergency hydration touch up
For most people, during the fall you will need a little more hydration than you do in the summer. A lot of people will change into a thicker face moisturizer at this time of year. I sometimes do too. But there are a lot of times, I just add a bit of extra hydration touch up like Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel with Sunscreen on my face throughout the day when I feel I need it. I often have one or two red spots either on my forehead or on my cheek during the dry seasons. This water gel instantly calms my skin and the red spots disappear very quickly. It is very lightweight so I don’t need to worry that it will mess up my foundation and makeup. I just use my fingertip to pat my skin softly. It usually takes about 10 times and it will be totally absorbed.
As a teacher, I often have some late meetings with parents. Seriously I don’t have the time to redo my makeup prior to the conference but I also don’t want to look so tired. Although I usually am. I mean we are talking Middle School students here! So I use this Olay Eyes Eye Lifting Serum around my eyes. I use the same technique as when I apply the water gel. I also mix this serum with my concealer and pat underneath my eyes. My dry winkles and dark circles are reduced dramatically after this emergency hydration rescue! And this mixing trick also can make your concealer less caky.
Create long and thick eyelashes
Everybody knows if your eyelashes are long and thick, your eyes look more attractive. I have used my false lashes for a few months now and I love them. But it’s difficult to put them on every day. Now I don’t have to! About 3 weeks ago I tried this CoverGirl Plumpify BlastPRO Mascara and I just simply fell in love with it. With a couple of coats, my eyelashes are looking as good as the false lashes I used. And it stays on for the whole day. For the cooler season I love to put on more dramatic mascara. If you favor a more natural look, then this mascara may be not your best choice.
Below are two photos to show sort of a before and after result where I only used it on one eye to let you compare and see for yourself.
Remove your makeup completely.
I think you all know how important it is to remove any makeup/dirt before you sleep. But I have to say it again. The skin repairs itself at night while you sleep, so makeup/dirt can clog your pores and not allow the skin to breathe. And it can cause uneven skin tone, dryness, redness, acne, and even deepening of wrinkles. We really don’t want any of those. I recently discovered this Garnier Skin Active Micellar Cleansing Water and I was so impressed by how good it is. I usually use a Japanese brand and it costs me more than $30, but this super easy to use cleansing water is under $7. I don’t know how but it did a better job than my $30 one. The most stubborn mascara and lip stick is gone with one wipe. I wish I had found this product a long time ago. And now that I’m familiar with it, I even saw it in the latest edition of Instyle Magazine. This is the quote: “Strong enough to dissolve that stay-put gel eyeliner, this liquid contains micelle molecules to pull dirt and grime from pores.”
There are a lot of other great products at Meijer for a very affordable price to help you update your beauty routine for fall. How affordable you ask? I am SO happy you did! All these products, and many other beauty and styling items, are included in the Meijer Fall Beauty pullout and will be on sale the entire week of September 11! Which one is your favorite?
