How To Wear A Kaftan—the Chic and edgy style
The beautiful freely-flowing and loosely-fit kaftans are pretty much everywhere and on everybody during those long hot days of summer. While a lot of you might consider it to be suitable only as beachwear, or at the most super casual, but for me, I believe you can actually rock these cool pieces for almost any occasion and almost any season. As with most pieces you can extend the usefulness of these gorgeous outfits by styling them right.
Like I said earlier, a kaftan dress is a must-have for you during the summer season. But, it also can help you transition into the fall by adding a few Autumn vibe accessories.
I like a Kaftan dress because these great dresses suit women of almost any size or shape depending on the style you choose and also can helpfully disguise any bits of “extra” that you do not want accentuated.
As you all know, Kaftan Dresses are loose, free-flowing robes reaching to the ankles. To be best fitted with my petite frame, I chose this “HIGH LOW WIND FLOW” KAFTAN IN POLKA DOTS PATTERN dress from Kaftans by Silk and More. The high hem on the front gives my body a break by showing my legs. This helps to avoid the dress looking like a bag on me.
I always love polka dots and now I finally found my beloved kaftan in that pattern. Here is the note and description I found about this beautiful dress:
Note From Designer:
I love asymmetrical designs and always wanted to incorporate them in my kaftans. This kaftan is result of that wish; the front is high and back low in this kaftan. To further enhance it’s beauty, I gave it an empire waistline and added flowing butterfly sleeves. The structure of this design will make you want the wind to actually flow towards you and bring out its beauty.
Not only do I enjoy designing the kaftan but also enjoy choosing the fabric as much; for this style I chose Polka Dots fabric in Black which has a light, windy feel to it.
I do enjoy the wind as I walk and feel like I am an elegant Goddess somehow. 😉
The material of this dress is 100% mulmul cotton (fine quality and extremely soft, gets softer with every wash). I didn’t even have to steam it after I received it, which is very unusual. I just hung it up and all the wrinkles were just gone. I wore it to visit my husband when he was staying at the hospital. After several hours of sitting, I didn’t see any wrinkles on this dress, for which I am very impressed.
On Kaftans by Silk and More, there are many authentic and modern designs of Kaftan dresses and tops. You may have to spend some time to look through it becuse you won’t want to miss any cute looks. And there is another reason I like this website for Kaften style clothes. I can choose many different fabric or color options. For example, my polka dot dress has totally nine color combinations to choose from.
To make my Kaftan dress look more modern, I added on a skinny scarf and a burgundy fur belt to help achieve the all over vibe I was looking for. I also used my lace-up pointy booties to get the edgy feeling I like.
Another thing I really like are the options that you have to pick from about the length. Being a petite (ok, maybe that means short) person the right length is super important. On this website you have choices of shirt, tunic, short dress, knee length, tea dress and ankle length to choose from. And all offer the same style and same print. I think it is a very neat feature. I picked a shirt top for my second piece and you are going to see it next Monday. What could be better? So happy you asked!
