Shopping Spring Fashion at Meijer with Stacy London – Part 1

Shopping Spring Fashion at Meijer with Stacy London – Part 1

I have been working with Meijer on several projects since last year. A couple weeks ago I got an email from them. After I read it, I almost fell off of my chair. What?!!! They were asking me to meet with their Massini fashion line spokesperson, Stacy London! The same Stacy London who had hosted the “What Not To Wear” show on TLC? Heck YES!

I watched so many of her shows, she even helped me learn English by watching them when I first moved to the USA. She is basically my fashion AND English teacher. πŸ˜‰ In more recent years, I became a big fan of her breaking her own “What Not To Wear” era fashion rules and being true to aging and style. So for these reasons, there is a special place in my heart for her.

As you can imagine, I was super excited and nervous at the same time. What should I say? What should I do? Is she nice in real person? It turned out, last Wednesday became one of the best days of my life. πŸ™‚

We met at the Social Kitchen & Bar in Birmingham, Michigan for lunch. When she walked in, she was smiling at everybody and apologizing for being late. She flew into Detroit early that morning and right after that she asked to go the Warren Meijer store to check out the products and layout for our afternoon shopping experience with her. She seriously didn’t have to do that, but she obviously wanted to make sure another local blogger and myself would have a pleasant experience with her. I really appreciated her professionalism.

During the lunch, we sat right across the table from each other. She is so pretty in person and I love how she mixed prints with her blazer and top. By the way, that pretty floral blazer is the fall collection from Massini line in Meijer. πŸ˜‰ Stacy was so good at talking and listening to everybody and made each of us feel like we were very important to her. She asked us many questions and wanted to get to know us better. She asked me why I came to America, I said I came here to marry my husband. And then she said “I hope your husband will not be mad that we kept you here with us today” I couldn’t help but shed some tears. I told her about my husband’s passing and she teared up too. I had told myself many times before I saw her, ‘DON’T CRY!,’ but somehow she just has the ability to make everyone feel very comfortable with her and you want to share with her all your life stories.

This is a short video we did when we were at our lunch. She is just such a happy person to be around.

Of course we talked about fashion, Stacy even checked out our blogs and told us how much she loved our work. How amazing is it when your fashion idol tells you face to face that they enjoy what you do? I felt like I was in my own little heaven. πŸ˜‰ We were talking about pretty much everything, just like we were hanging out with a fun and loving girlfriend. She also gave Inez from Style Chic 360 a lot of health tips as well. Stacy had spine surgery at end of last year and she is still wearing a brace on her lower back. Later when we were at the Meijer store, she was non-stop working. Look at the photo below, for a person who is still recovering from spine surgery, she worked very hard and really gave 110% effort. I have to say, I really admire and respect her dedication.

Meijer is always my go to grocery shopping destination. They have very fresh produce compared to others in my area. I am so glad my favored supermarket paired up with my style idol to give women a place for fashion as well. That afternoon, Stacy, Inez and myself spent at least 3 hours at the Warren Meijer store. Stacy gave us a tour with the newest Massini line at Meijer and picked up some super cute pieces for us to try. I felt like I was living in my dream! Honestly, many years ago I was dreaming about going on her show and getting a makeover. πŸ˜‰ She is such a patient teacher and passionate stylist. She answered all the questions on the Meijer Instagram account and then she took us shopping in the Massini line. I did a few Facebook Live videos that day. The first one was her answering questions.

We had so much fun that afternoon. Stacy is so knowledgeable and professional but still so fun to hang out with. Look at all the goofy moments we had.

Now you can see with your own eyes! Stacy London is so REAL and down to the earth. She didn’t mind taking millions of photos with us. πŸ˜‰ I asked her if she would like to preview the photos I took with her that I was going to use in my blog. She just said “I don’t care how I look, just make sure you look good” That is some real confidence for a female celebrity. I just loved her even more! I am so glad that Meijer brought Stacy on board with their Massini line. Aren’t the clothes I am holding in the photo below just super cute! You need to come back next Wednesday to see more details about the outfit that Stacy picked for me.

There’s no other closet staple that’s as timeless or as versatile as the white button-down shirt. And who knows best how to make a white dress shirt look good on a woman? I have to say, the answer must be Anne Fontaine.

Falling in love with a brand is just like falling for a person. There must be some connection or click. There are a lot of people asking me to describe my own style. I always refer myself as fun, graceful (of course) and polished.

As you can see from the two looks I am wearing, Anne Fontaine designs are above all others. She is definitely the white dress shirt queen and her designs are so elegant, fun and polished. You see? Anne Fontaine is basically my fashion soul mate. πŸ˜‰

Of course, you don’t just fall in love with somebody because of their looks (not that looks hurt). Deep down, you fall in love because you admire the person or that person makes you feel good about yourself. Anne Fontaine is certainly a designer who knows about womens bodies and how to make them feel good about themselves. She has the magic touch to make a basic white dress shirt look super sexy, but still elegant.

Just like this black ADONIA skirt I am wearing makes me feel so sexy without showing much skin! Can you believe how beautiful this cream ANOUSHKA blouse is!? There is no need to point out the elegance and femininity in this top, as it is her signature style. The puffy sleeves are so right now and add so much fun.

Let’s talk about how versatility. This BORIS collar is the perfect example to show how thoughtful Anne Fontaine is. You can wear it with a white dress shirt, a black one like I did, or an off the shoulder top…. There are endless options to use this collar and make every look unique and fun!

Anne really knows how to make her pieces looking good on any woman. For example, for any girl who has a D or D+ chest, button down shirts often are not an option because it pulls open from the front all the time. All the shirts by Anne Fontaine have more buttons on the chest area to ensure everything is in its rightful place.

When I think about buying a luxury piece, often I give up at the last minute because I hate the thought of having to dry clean every time I wear it. It is just too much time and effort for me. All of Anne Fontaine clothes can be machine washed. Score!

Now you get my point. I LOVE Anne Fontaine’s designs. I also admire her as a human being. I always wanted to be a fashion designer and this year I finally started to give it a try. πŸ˜‰ On that note, it’s needless to say how much I admire her talents and hard work. Above everything, the thing that really speaks to me is her heart. In addition to her own life style brand (her white dress shirts and everything that goes with them), Anne Fontaine also runs a foundation to preserve the Mata AtlΓ’ntica and save the Brazilian Atlantic Rainforest.

How does she do that? She designed some products to raise awareness and uses the money from these items to plant more trees. The EcoBag for example, which was designed by Anne Fontaine, is a recyclable bag made partially from recycled plastic bottles. It contributes to funding the Foundation’s reforestation projects. By purchasing an EcoBag for $20, you can help plant 5 trees and at the same time decrease the use of plastic bags. This month, the 22nd is Earth Day. These bags would make the perfect heart felt gift for that day!
