Today we are going back to my coverage of NYFW 16 again to talk about my absolute favorite fashion designer of the trip. I saw totally 12 designers when I was in NYC but I will only feature 5 of them. This is the 4th designer and the fifth and final post will be next Monday. You can read all my previous NYFW 16 posts here, here and here.
This was one of the designers that participated in the Pret A Porter show organized by Fashion Group. His name is Denny Wirawan and he is from Indonesia. I was invited to many shows but only had a very limited time. So I had to do my homework to decide which ones I really wanted to see. I was so excited after I visited his website and couldn’t wait to see this show.
I have to say overall in my time in the Big Apple I saw several hits, but there were also a few misses. Denny Wirawan’s show was a definite hit in my mind. I didn’t see anyone I liked better. The reason why I loved his designs so much? I guess because I was drawn to the Asian influence, with it’s bold and elegant patterns and prints. Uh, hello, I am Chinese after all! When I saw his designs walking down the runway, the first word that came to my mind, was ART. Yes, every single piece in his collection is a work of art. Each piece was carefully crafted with love for tradition and life. When a piece of clothing can hold so many meanings, it easily catches people’s eyes. What do you think? Are you seeing what I’m seeing?
Denny Wirawan may be new to a lot of Americans but he is a big deal in his native Indonesia. Denny has won several prestigious awards in the fashion world. He was a winner and favorite in Lomba Perancang Mode (Indonesian Fashion Designer Competition) held by Femina Group (one of the leading magazines in Indonesia). He earned his latest award from ASEAN Silk Competition in Bangkok, Thailand in 2011. Twice he was nominated as the Indonesian Designer of the Year held by NOKIA & A+ Magazine, and selected as one of the 5 Best Indonesian Fashion Designers by The Jakarta Post, Indonesia.
Thank you very much for reading and have a great day!

My job requires me to dress in at least business casual. So I only wear jeans on weekends. A few days ago, when I looked though all my old photos, I found I really don’t have a lot of casual looks. So for today’s post I decided to start the weekend early! You’re welcome! But we fashion bloggers are always on the clock so even when we’re wearing our cool on trend ripped jeans, we have to do it right. Which I am with my SUEDE FINISH SHORT TRENCH COAT from eShakti.
Last Monday I wrote about my great experience with eShakti, you can read more here. They have so many choices but I fell in love with this trench coat. The color, style and versatility made it an instant hit for me. Don’t believe me? Well your own eyes wouldn’t lie to you, so here are a few different looks built around the same coat.
When I am looking for a new item to allow into my walk-in closet, I always like to envision at least two outfits that I could create by pairing the newcomer with what I already have. And most important, they must have the ability to make me look like I’m dressing my A game. Hey, entry into my wardrobe isn’t for wimpy clothes. My outfits have to work hard to earn a spot in my fashion rotation and especially if they ever hope to be featured on my blog. You see, I am a very picky person when it comes to shopping. I have to be. I’m not just shopping for me but for all of you too! No. No, you don’t have to thank me. It’s all just part of the job!
So far I am very happy with this trench coat. It’s definitely earning it’s keep. I know I can wear it with so many different things and the color is spot on!
