And the winner for Best Motion Picture is…
So as pretty much everyone in the world knows, the Academy Awards show was on Sunday night. I can’t remember the last time I went to see a movie at a theater so don’t get too excited about who’s up for the best actor and what film’s up for the best movie award. But I do love to check out the incredible fashions that come in on the red carpet. Of course, beauty really is in the eye of the beholder, and everyone’s list of Oscar night fashion hits and misses will be a bit different. But the one thing you can count on is people are talking about it today! I have to get up pretty early in the morning for my “other” job so all these awards shows usually go on way past my bedtime. But because I’m so dedicated to bringing you the best content I can, I recorded all the pre-show shows, the show itself and even a few post-show shows! Over the next day or two I’ll let you know what I thought of the more blog-worthy outfits. It’s kind of funny that I’m not even from this country and haven’t lived here all that long, but it seems I know a lot more of the actors than my husband does. I think that’s one of the big differences between men and women. Men go to see a movie and can tell you the exact make, model and year of the cars in the big chase scene but don’t have a clue about the names of the actors who are driving them. Women on the other hand not only know their names, but we also know who they left their wife or husband for! It just goes to show how much better our minds work than men’s do. It also shows why my husband gets a look of fear on his face whenever I ask him if he notices anything different about me! They just don’t pay attention to the important things!
So what to do? You’re invited to one of the hottest Oscar night after parties but you still have to show up at the office Monday morning. I know, I have this same problem all the time! But then I wake up from my dream and get ready for work anyway! Well if you (or me) are ever in this predicament I have the answer in today’s outfit. I found this dress in china. The bold color and oversized bow on one shoulder caught my eye. I remember thinking to myself that this would be a perfect party dress. The bright color would make sure you would be noticed when you made your entrance. For most people this is maybe too much. But as you know if you’ve read even a few of my posts, I love color.
But just in case you have to go straight to the office the morning after partying with the stars, you can take some simple steps to tone things down to a business casual level. To keep this outfit from overwhelming you with color, I went with black for most of the rest of my look. This not only dials the color volume down just a notch but also adds a nice contrasting field of dark background to make the bold color pop even more. The burgundy shoes nicely played off the dress and I didn’t need much else except for some shiny arm bling to finish this outfit up just right. Just to make sure it was just right, I decided to take no chances and used both of my extra cool bracelets I got from My Arm Charms. The longer I wear these bangles the more I like them!
