Petite fashion—crop top, mini skirt and long jacket

Cropped tops have been hot in trend since last year and this year it is still going strong. I have posted here to talk about how a petite girl pulls off a long skirt with a crop top. Today we are going to talk about how to make a crop top and a mini skirt look more polished by adding on a white long jacket. The real sexy is not revealing everything, but creating an image of what are not showing. 😉 This rule is working perfectly for us who don’t have the high school figure any more. Are you going to try a crop top this year? How do you pull off this trend? Please leave comments as I love to read them!

Michigan’s winter usually is very harsh and I took a break from my driving practice. Right before my birthday 8 years ago, I went to volunteer at our local public school but they offered me a part time job. NOW I MUST GET MY DRIVER’S LICENSE AND BUY A CAR! Below is the story of how I bought my first car!

Let’s get me a car!
If you’ve been reading and riding along with my post for the last several weeks, THANK YOU! You probably know that I’ve been remembering my experiences for learning how to drive. I never learned when I was living in China. It’s not as unusual as you might think. It’s only been in the last few years that just regular people bought cars and learned to drive. And I think that’s only happened because the Chinese economy is getting so huge that a lot more people have more money on hand than ever before. Unlike America, there isn’t really a need to have your own car so much in China. Where I grew up in the northeast part, we have busses or taxis that take you pretty much anywhere and everywhere you need to go. In the big cities like Shanghai where I lived for my last 10 years in China there are also more and more subway lines that get you across town much quicker and smoother and without the crazy traffic jams that often clog up the streets. Of course for long distances there is a pretty complete train and plane system. So having a car in China is more a status symbol than it is a necessity.

This is not so in America. At least in the part of America I had moved to. There are a few big cities with a pretty good public transportation system like New York and Chicago. But my husband works for a huge supplier for the automotive industry so it only makes sense that we live near Detroit. Known as The Motor City, Detroit’s economy depends on people buying cars from the “Big 3” American car companies. All 3 of these companies have their headquarters offices in the Detroit area. There is a bus system but not too many people depend on it and it would take you a very long time to get where you want to. Because of that, pretty much everyone in this country has a driver’s license and access to a car. Most drivers start to learn when they are teenagers and go to a local driving school. They also grew up being driven around in the family car. Maybe they sat next to their dad on a long vacation road trip and even took a turn using the steering wheel to keep the car pointed in the right direction. Because of this early experience and familiarity most kids in America are very comfortable when they start their driving lessons when they are 15 or 16 years old.

I didn’t have any of those experiences. I had driven a small motorscooter once but that ended badly! I lost control and drove off the road with it. I wasn’t hurt but that was enough for me to go back to riding the local bus! In Michigan the laws let you learn driving from anyone that already has a license if you are over 18 years old. I definitely qualified for that requirement! So we decided that my husband would become my driving teacher and the lessons began. If you’ve been reading along you know this wasn’t without its share of ups and downs. But I had been learning to drive our little car first around our small town and then out into the countryside and eventually on the high speed freeways that crisscross the country. Because my husband drove about 100 miles each day to his job and back he had bought a car to get good gas mileage. And that meant one with a manual gear shifter. These are usually a bit better for going further on a gallon of gas but they are more difficult to drive for most people. You have an extra pedal to operate with your foot and you also have to control the gearshift lever with your hand. I had gotten better but I certainly wasn’t an expert and still had too much trouble when I was starting off on a hill. I stalled the car pretty often! The whole point of all my lessons and practice was to get me ready to take the driving test that I would have to pass before the State of Michigan would give me a driver’s license. I was pretty worried that I wouldn’t be able to pass it if I kept stalling the car! So, my husband and I came to the decision that it was time to shop for a car for me! Now I was starting to get excited! Join me next time as we head to the car dealer!

gliang
Yes, first time is already the most memorable time! Lol! I had to change 2 outfits this morning because I gained weight again and the dress is too tight. 😉
