How to dress to go shopping
I know nowadays there are a lot of woman who do their shopping in the comfort and ease of their home through the internet. I have done it too, I mean you can’t beat the convenience. But because I am a petite, and I am super picky I have to be a bit more careful than the average shopper. So I still wind up physically going to a mall or store to touch the fabric, feel the drape and see if it really fits me like I hope. You just can’t get all that from a computer screen.

Since I am a shophachlic, or as I prefer, a shopping expert, I do have some tips that will save you some time and effort and make your shopping more efficient. But today I am going to only talk about how to dress to go shopping if you do want to venture out to your nearest clearance sale.
1. Shopping is solid hard work, so be comfortable.
That means wearing flats or very comfy wedges. If you need to see the fit of your new finds with taller shoes, then you can find a pair of heels in most stores to try on with your outfit. Also make sure your shoes are easy to take off and put on. A pair of slip on or zipper closure are ideal. Try to avoid lace-up shoes for the day you are shopping. Remember, shopping can be a battle and you don’t want to get distracted and tired out fighting with tangled laces. Comfortable also means whatever you are wearing should be easy to put on and get off without any help or spending too much time. Hey, the less time you have to spend fighting with the clothes you already own gives you that much more opportunity to try on that oh so perfect item to plug the hole in your wardrobe.

2. Do not wear a dress if you don’t have to.
It is kind of hard to envision the real final look of the pieces you’re trying when you have to put those killer skinny jeans under the bottom half of a dress or even worse, try on a super cute top while down below you’re feeling a definite breeze! So I recommend you wear a separates outfit. I usually wear a white, black or other natural color tee; those are easy to pair with just about anything on the bottom. Of course if you already have a top and just need to find a bottom, you can bring that piece with you or take a picture to make sure. For the bottom, a comfy skirt or shorts will be the best choice for the warm season when you go shopping.
3. Wear your best fitting, nude color and strapless bra and nude underwear.
You never know what you are going to find. That is the most fun part of shopping. The nude color will not interfere with the look of your new treasures, and you will be very happy to see the accurate final look when you try on an off the shoulder top or dress. Don’t you just hate hiding the straps of your bra when you are trying on some new clothes? And wearing nude underwear will give you a better idea when you trying on a light color garment.

4. Wear your best fitting outfit.
I like to still dress up a little bit when I go shopping. Because when I try on a new outfit, if it is not looking any better then what I am wearing now, then why do I need to spend my hard earned money on it? You don’t want to just grab and jam clothes into your cart without really thinking about them. You might think you’re getting a great deal with your bargain hunting, but later when you look at these items and wonder what you were thinking, all of a sudden that deal wasn’t so great after all.
5. Keep warm.
Some stores really don’t seem to know that 99% of women hate being cold. And when they’re shivering, they don’t care that much about the energy costs or the environment either. Anyway, I always bring an extra layer for this purpose. As you can see from this outfit, I was wearing a handmade cardigan from our local designer Diana Cholakova. The choker I was wearing is from her too. And below are some giveaway items from her as well. Again, I like to wear nature colors so it will not make it hard to see if a piece will work in my closet.

6. Use a cross body bag.
When you are shopping, it is kind of like a competition, and seconds count. You will hate being just one short moment behind somebody else and helplessly watching as that perfect last in stock piece you’ve been dreaming of all year gets picked off the clearance rack right in front of your eyes. And why? All because you were trying to juggle your clutch purse, iPhone and Grande Caramel Latte Macchiato and didn’t have a hand free to reach for the hanger. So put the phone in your bag and the strap across your shoulder, free your hands and get in there to dig through the rack by wearing a cross body bag.
7. Bring make up essentials but leave your armful of bangles at home.
Trying on clothes will mess up your makeup or hair, so bring some travel size ones to touch up before you walk out of the dressing room. For accessories, anything that will be easily tangled or caught on the material should be left at home. If you really need some accessories then choose some light weight, smaller sized ones without sharp edges.

8. Bring a snack.
You’ve all seen the commercial, when you are hungry, you are not yourself. And if your stomach is making noises you may make some bad judgments because you want to leave soon to eat. So make sure you eat a good meal before you go shopping or take some snacks with you.

Ok. I think that is enough for the first shopping tips post.
