Shop Fall Floral at Twelve Oaks Mall in Novi, Michigan
This is a sponsored post by Twelve Oaks Mall but all opinions and experiences are 100% my own.
Twelve Oaks Mall in Novi Michigan and I have a very special connection. The story of this connection has to begin 10 years ago.
When I first moved to America from Shanghai, China, I lived in a city called Howell… population under 10k. In China, we don’t call this little tiny place city, we call it small village. 😉 Anyway, if you have never been to Shanghai, you may not truly understand how huge the changes were for me. Shanghai has 24 million people, and now I lived in a place where there the population was less than 10 thousand people. The second morning after I arrived at my new home in Howell, I sat on our front porch doing my usual people watching thing just like I did wherever I went when I was in China. But this time, there were no people. I sat there for about half an hour and I didn’t see a single human. At that moment, I felt like I was the lone survivor in an abandoned place.
The apartment I lived at when I was in Shanghai was right in the center of the city. It was super convenient to everywhere. Across the street was the subway station and there were in total 8 big shopping malls right next to my place. So I often took my evening walks to those malls after dinner. Now you can imagine how excited I was when my late husband took me to Twelve oaks Mall the first time. I felt a piece of home finally. Later, my man won a free night stay at a hotel in Novi from his company. We were quite tight on money at that time so vacation for us was a bit of a luxury. We were very happy to spend a whole weekend in Novi window shopping at Twelve Oaks Mall. Later, after I started to work, our life was getting better and better and we took many vacations. But somehow, every time I think about this trip, it makes me feel heartwarming.
Ok, enough about me. Now, you may be curious about Twelve Oaks Mall. Twelve Oaks Mall is a full line super-regional shopping mall with over 180 stores located in Novi, Michigan, a suburb of Detroit. Among the 180 stores, are so many of my favorite ones, like BCBG, Anne Taylor and White House Black Market.
Last week I went shopping on a hunt for a fall floral dress for my road trip and camping. I knew BCBG would be the best place to start since its specialty is dresses. And sure enough, I found exactly what I was looking for. You can watch the short video below to see my whole shopping trip. You also will see my road trip last weekend when this floral dress was in action.

You probably already noticed two ways that I have styled this floral dress. In Michigan, it has been quite cold lately and mornings are about 40 degrees. So I paired this floral maxi dress with a burgundy turtle neck sweater, black leather leggings, combat boots, leather jacket and knit hat when I was traveling and camping. I also swapped my combat boots to over the knee boots and changed to a felt hat for a more feminine look. Which one is your favorite?
I have to say I had a wonderful experience shopping at BCBG/Twelve Oaks Mall. As you have seen from the short video, the staff at the store were very friendly. In fact, one of the sales ladies suggested I pair this floral dress with a navy blue turtleneck sweater. So I borrowed her turtleneck sweater idea and changed into burgundy. But boy, I felt bad about myself because I didn’t come up this genius idea first. Shame on me as a fashion blogger. 😉
At our camp set, our neighbors were a quite nice older couple. The lady told me “You look very elegant. But this is not a typical camping gear.” Lol, I didn’t even care, who said I can’t be fabulous when I am camping?
Next month, I will be back shopping there again. What fall/winter trends do you really hope I can try at Twelve Oaks Mall? Leave a comment and happy shopping!
