My late husband was my photographer. He was always with me and took millions photos that I could pick from. But now it is just me and I have traveled even more for my blogging business or vacation this year. I need many photos to post, so I have to find a way to do the trick. Below are a few simple tools or App that have helped me keep producing high quality photos by myself.
1. Light-Up Phone Case For Selfie or Instagram Story
I noticed that I have taken more and more selfies and Instagram stories when I am traveling. Most of them are pretty bad quality due to the terrible lighting. Then just recently I discovered this cool Light-Up Phone Case.

2. The old Fashion Tripod for Self Portraits
My late husband bought this AmazonBasics 60-Inch Lightweight Tripod two years ago for our TV segment filming. I never thought about that I would take this tripod everywhere I traveled. I know, some of my blogger friend couldn’t believe when she saw it in my hotel room. Lol. It is very light weight and so easy to use.
Self portraits are tough for a number of reasons; you can’t see yourself to know how you look until after the fact. Setup can be more time consuming due to the running back and forth setting timers. Focus is difficult because again you can’t see where that focus point is resting and if you are using a timer mode there is a chance you weren’t in the frame when the camera found something to focus on. Lol. It takes time and patience but it can be done. You can see the photos below for some good ones that I got from hundreds not so great ones.
3. Meitu Photo Editing App
When I was in China for my month long vacation, all my friends were using this Meitu App. They were so surprised that I never used any App like this to edit my photos. They said I am not quilted to be a blogger since I didn’t even know it. Lol! Anyway, this is a super powerful App that literally can make everyone looks perfect. I always dislike heavy touching up with my photos. The only thing I do is to lighten up the image if it is too dark. You can explore more to see the magic results. Anyway, I just wanted to show you one function that I really like, the Eraser. This can help you erase all the people or things that you don’t want in your photos. See examples below.

Thank you for sharing your tricks and photo app. Both are great resources and what amazing results with photos taken by yourself. It is so hard to take pictures with a tripod and it does take practice but not before it consumes your time away! I too don’t filter or change much of my photos just when it’s too dark but the function on the app sounds really useful. I’ll need to check it out. I hope you had a wonderful wonderful weekend!

Great tricks and tips! i’d also recommend vsco for editing! the light up phone case is especially clever
Super informative! The Lumee phone case works wonders for you, I love the back light option for something a little more natural. Also love your style of editing!
The light cause would definetly help out for taking pictures when there is low or limited lighting. I never realized the impact the amount of light had on my complexion.
This case is making your photos even more gorgeous! This is such a helpful article. Also loving the cute photos you’re getting with your tripod!
There was a New Yorker article recently about Meitu—I had no idea it was available here. That’s hilarious that you can delete people from your photos!

Love the before and after photos with the light up phone case. Does a great job capturing the effectiveness of the Lumee light up case. Stunning!
Thanks so much for the tips and for introducing me to the light up phone case!
That phone case is so cool! I may have to pick one up to give to the GF so we stop spending 20 minutes trying to find the perfect lighting for our selfies.
