You all know that I love colors, especially bold colors. That is why my blog is called Color and Grace. 😉 I was told that back in the 50s and 60s every woman had to learn a little about colors in order to pick the most flattering ones for their wardrobe and makeup. I guess that is why that time period had so many fashion icons and classic styles. Those women really knew themselves and were good at picking out the best color to allow them to reach their full beauty potential.
Nowadays, it seems like we have forgotten the science of color. Most women just stick with natural colors because they don’t really know what their best colors and worst colors are. Most people have a favorite color, but your favorite may not be the best one for your wardrobe. Everyone has a unique group of colors that makes them look their best and another that makes them look their worst. Coordinating the right colors together can make the difference between a stunning outfit and an ugly one. I think you got my point; other than style and fit, I really pay attention to colors when it comes to shopping. In fact, there are a lot of times I start with a color, and then the style, then the fit.
I was not born with a good eye for colors. I have learned from a few people in the past. Recently, I went to Houston to refresh my color knowledge with Lauren from LFB Color.
Lauren F. Battistini is a certified color analyst with over 11 years of experience in her field. We met through the magic of Instagram and became E-friends. I have to say, her professional background is quite impressive. As the former CEO of a color + wardrobe consulting group, Lauren uses state-of-the-art 12-tone color analysis to determine her clients’ ideal color palettes. She also hosts style + color events for small groups + corporate clients, partners with large retailers + cosmetic brands, and appeared as a color + style expert for local + nationally syndicated television.
Lauren is credentialed in the fields of personal color analysis and full-service business color consulting. She was first certified as a Sci\ART Global professional color analyst by Kathryn Kalisz, founder of the Sci\ART system. Lauren furthered her training in 2009 with Kalisz in a class entitled, ‘Color Mixing + Matching.’ Lauren expanded her professional knowledge base in 2015 with a course in color + design for professionals, taught by Leatrice Eiseman, founder of Eiseman + Associates and Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute.
As of October 2017, Lauren is now an ebhuesTM certified color analyst, making her the only analyst worldwide to be trained by ebhuesTM creator Darin Wright on this full spectrum, customized system of color analysis. This is a high honor for Lauren and enables her to individualize + expand color palettes for clients, offering them even more options for cosmetics + wardrobe building.
Early in March, Lauren and I spent a whole afternoon testing and finding out what my best colors are. You can check out the FB lives to see more details.
Below are the best colors for me based on my unique skin tone.
After I got home, I received all the personalized color cards for me to use when I go shopping. No more mistakes on colors and it will save me so much money!!!
I have been super busy lately getting ready for my Europe trip from 3/19 to 3/31, so I haven’t had any chance go shopping. I will show you later how those babies help me in picking out the best colors, so you need to come back to read the second post. 😉 Anyway, I did play with the cards with my existing wardrobe to help me decide what I should keep, and what I should donate. 😉
I just love all the spring colors and good news is they are all in my personal color palette. I also received many makeup goodies from Lauren based on my best colors. I have been playing with them every day. There are definitely some colors I would never have thought I would put on my face, but they turned out so pretty on me! You have to come back to read my second post about how I use all the tools and products in my real life. 🙂
