A week ago, I was invited to the 40th Annual Elegance Charity Fashion Show at University of Michigan. I have been to a few college fashion shows, I have to say this one is definitely a very high quality show solely ran by students.
The 40th annual Elegance Charity Fashion Show is an action-packed show which is highlighting fashion, art and culture. The designers are from up-and-coming & well-known, or independent designers & boutiques. The show also consists of great giveaways and very professional performances! All the proceeds is going towards Living Arts Detroit.
Living Arts Detroit is a non-profit organization that engages Detroit youth, teachers and families in transformative experiences in the performing, visual, literary and media arts. Through artist residencies in schools across Detroit and robust out-of-school offerings focused in Southwest Detroit, Living Arts Detroit increases youth’s academic achievement, develop their leadership and artistic skills, and strengthen our schools and communities. Its goal is to raise money to help grow the program’s staffing, student enrollment, and awareness of the art-based and leadership skills the program provides to youth.
ELEGANCE FASHION is a University of Michigan fashion organization built to promote self-expression through individuality, style, and culture. Its mission is to break down societal stereotypes with an annual show. Through their many representations of different shapes, sizes, ethnicities, and backgrounds, they hope to show that beauty has no standard and that it is not a necessity to conform to the norms of society. I have to say, I totally felt this high level confidence in each of the models that night. 🙂
Elegance Fashion Show is an annual event to celebrate the beauty of diversity on the University of Michigan campus and is the most anticipated, action packed fashion show of the year with over 600 in attendance. It is probably the biggest collage fashion shows that I have ever been to. 😉 It was fashionably late just like almost every fashion show, but everything ran so smoothly after it finally started. The host Lauren was very entertained and upbeat. It clearly showed the thoughts and effort they have put in with each theme of the show. You can watch the short video below to see more runway catwalks!
Here are more of my favorite looks from that night.
