You may still remember the post LOOK FOR LESS TO SUPPORT THE SALVATION ARMY ADULT REHABILITATION CENTER (ARC) I wrote in early April. In that post, I used all my great finds at the Salvation Army Store near me and styled two outfits for myself. If I don’t say so myself, no one can tell the outfits are from a thrift store and one of the outfits was less than $10.
Two weeks ago, I went to the same Salvation Army store to style 3 of the Salvation Army/ARC employees. I had an amazing time working with these amazing people and helping them to create stunning looks for less. I mean… really, really less. One of theirs is less than $10 too. 😉 You can watch this short video for a sneak peak of the before and after looks. Later you will find out whose outfit was the cheapest!

A sneak peak of tomorrow’s new post “Look for Less with Salvation Army “ at www.colorandgrace.com. Watch to see the before and after looks I have styled for 3 ARC and @salvationarmyus staffs. When we met, Mycha told me that she is looking for a date night look. So we both agreed on a spring colored above-the-knee dress with just a hint of sexiness. She is just like me; because she is a petite girl, any dress length is very critical. Above-the-knee dresses are always our best friends, especially for a taller petite girl like her. After trying on a few dresses, we both in love with a yellow lace dress. Since this dress is already so loud and bold, we tried to keep everything else very low-key so any accessories would not compete with the attention of this dress. You may have already noticed that Mycha is not your typical girly girl. She has this cool girl swagger going on. A bikers jacket became the best way to keep her warm during the night out while also adding her tough girl vibe to this feminine look. For this same purpose, we picked a pair of very clean cut leather booties and a timeless clutch to go with this whole look. What do you think?
When I asked Jordon what color he hated, he told me PINK, but I knew he would look great in pink. Later I found out he felt uncomfortable with V neck tees, too. So I asked him to step out of his comfort zone by at least two feet. Pink and V-necks were both within that two foot radius. 😉 He was super nice and willing to give it a try. He was even ok with this pair of orange pants. We found this navy blue blazer, pink tee and pants for him. Later he told me, the pink tee was growing on him. Lol. Jordan was looking for an outfit that he could be social in with his friends. Look at him now! I can see him on a rooftop bar, sipping his drink, and chatting with those cool guys.
Ashlee really knows herself very well and she can shop really fast too. 😉 She didn’t need much of my help and pretty much found this outfit by herself. She was looking for an outfit that she can wear when she goes out with family and friends to a nice restaurant. She found a tan duster vest first and a pair of very pretty printed heels. Since she needs to wear her scarf and not show much skin, we both agreed a pair of pants would go very well with the vest. Later, she found the perfect colored pants and we found a brown leather bag to go with this look.
You probably already guessed right. Yes, we were featured on FOX 2 Detroit on 4/30. Jillian Lankford from ARC and I were the guests for the Style File session on the morning show. Jillian talked about how shopping at the Salvation Army does not just give you an amazing look for less, but also helps many men and women getting back on their feet start their new lives again. My three models helped me demonstrate what we found there to put together these 3 stunning looks.
Can you guess whose is outfit is the cheapest at less than $10? You can watch this recording from the TV segment to see if you got it right!
Did you get it right? Now you see with your own eyes that you seriously can put together a look for a LOT less and still look stunning! Most importantly, you are helping someone who needs it most.
