In recent months, I started to use the words WELLNESS instead of HEALTHY. Because I realized that wellness has a wider range to cover in our lives.
WHAT IS WELLNESS?
“Wellness is a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being, and not merely absence of disease or infirmity.” – The World Health Organization.
Wellness is an active process of becoming aware of and making choices towards a healthy and fulfilling life. It is more than being free from illness. It is a dynamic process of change and growth. A good or satisfactory condition of existence, a state characterized by health, happiness, prosperity, and welfare.
I have been on my wellness journey for a while. Below are the things I do to keep myself balanced with my mind and body.
Taking Care of My Mind
Every morning I listen to inspirational videos on YouTube while I am getting ready for the day. So far I love a few channels. The first one is Lisa Nichols. She has some incredible stories about how she turned her life around. Now she is helping millions to do the same. Since I am on the path to becoming a public speaker, she is also my idol and I have learned so much from her. I am also a big fan of A-Fest by Mindvalley. They have so many amazing speakers, and they cover so many aspects of life. The next one is Tom Bilyeu. His Impact Theory interviews have truly opened my mind and I often ask myself, “What impact do I want to have to the world?” Before bed, I listen to spiritual speeches on YouTube as well. I pretty much watched everything that I can find about Oprah Winfrey. I am so obsessed with her, LOL! I hope someday I will have her powerful mind and make more positive differences in this world. I, also, have listened to Wayne Dyer Channel for months. It is kind of interesting because his major philosophy is Taoism, which was from China a thousand years ago. I found his use of Taoism even better than our Chinese. LOL. One more interesting fact: he was from Detroit, Michigan! Okay, the last one is Marisa Peer, named Best British Therapist. I love the way she makes how the brain works easy to understand. Her case studies give me the encouragement to revisit my past and figure out how to heal myself. Other than listening to those great minds, I do yoga at least once a week and just to quiet my mind. What do you do to take care of your mind?
Take Care of My Body
I have been going to the gym for more than a year, and it has become my lifestyle. When I have a long and stressful day, those high-intensity workouts give a place to let me empty my mind and flush out all the stress with my sweat. I have talked about my favorite gym Area45 Fitness a few times. You can read THE FUTURE OF FITNESS || HAVING FUN TONING YOUR BODY WITH AREA 45 FITNESS and LIFE AFTER LOSS || HOW FITNESS HELPED ME COPE for more details.
Other than the gym, I eat healthily. You can read LIFE AFTER LOSS COOKING FOR MYSELF and the recent post PLATEJOY || CUSTOMIZED MEAL PLANNING MAKING LIFE EASIER. I always believe you are what you eat.
Now on that note, I do take supplements as well. Recently I have taken this Wellness Please – Multi-Collagen for a few weeks now. Collagen is a glow-getting protein that makes up 40% of the protein in our bodies, but by our early 30s, we start to lose the natural collagen in our bodies. When you add multi-collagen peptides to your diet, it allows you to fill the gaps in your daily nutrition. This all-in-one formula is only 30 calories per serving and allows you to boost your overall health. This special formula is flavorless and odorless — with 7 grams of protein, I just simply add it to my coffee or tea every morning!
Here are more details about this product:
CONCENTRATED MULTI-COLLAGEN: This gluten-free, keto-friendly protein powder includes a high-quality blend of cage-free-chicken, grass-fed bovine, marine collagen, eggshell + bone broth.
SUPPORTS MUSCLES, BONES + JOINTS: Preserves lean muscle, boosts energy + cuts recovery time after workouts. Multi-collagen powder reduces joint pain, keeps arteries flexible + improves circulation. I do notice that my knees are not that stiff as normal. As well as the recovery time after workouts. One day I did two high-intensity workout classes in a row, but I didn’t feel much afterward.
SKIN + HAIR: With age, collagen production slows and skin loses its smooth appearance. This protein powder aids hair + nail growth + reduces hair loss. Collagen peptides may hydrate the skin by up to 12%, smoothing lines. I can’t tell you if it’s helping my skin or nail yet. But my cleaning lady told me that she has taken this same product for a long time and she saw the results.
