I noticed that when I stay active and eat clean on a regular basis, I feel less stressed out, less anxious, and generally happier.

“You are what you eat” has been my firm belief for many years. I have been on a low-carb diet for a few years and found so many yummy and healthy recipes that are easy to make. Today, I am going to share with you my favorite grilled salmon recipe. My step-daughter dislikes most seafood, but even she loves this dish.

Here is what you need:

Ingredients

1/3 cup honey
1/4 cup soy sauce
1 Tbsp sesame oil
2-4 garlic cloves, pressed or finely chopped
1/2 tsp black pepper, freshly ground
2 lbs salmon fillets cut into 3, 1-inch thick, portions (you can cut into 4 as well)
1/4 cup green onion, finely chopped, for garnish

Notes on Grilling Times

It all comes down to how thick your salmon fillets are. Follow these guidelines for grilling over med/high (350˚F heat):

1″ thick fillets = 4 to 5 minutes per side
3/4″ thick fillets = 3 to 4 minutes per side
1/2″ thick fillets = 2 to 3 minutes per side

Prep Time: 50 minutes

Cook Time: 8 minutes

Total Time: 58 minutes

Instructions

How to Make Grilled Honey Salmon:

Stir together marinade: 1/3 cup honey syrup, 1/4 cup soy sauce, 1 Tbsp sesame oil, 2-4 pressed garlic cloves, and 1/2 tsp pepper

In a large Ziploc bag, combine salmon fillets with marinade by tossing them together. Seal the bag, removing excess air. Marinate in the refrigerator for a minimum of 45 minutes, flipping the bag over halfway to make sure there is max flavor.

I love veggies, so I added green and yellow zucchini as a side dish to pair with this honey salmon.

While we waited on the salmon to marinate, my step-daughter and I played a lawn “dart” game in my backyard (…she informed me how they played with real darts in the past, but they were too dangerous and banned many years ago from the game). I have never played it before, but I did pretty well! LOL!

Okay, marinate time is up! Preheat the grill to medium/high heat.

Move the salmon to a platter, reserving the marinade. Oil the grates (dip a paper towel in oil and use tongs and an oven mitt for safety if you prefer). Grill salmon skin-side-down over medium/high heat according to the size. Carefully flip salmon over, and continue grilling until salmon is flaky.

To Add More Flavor

Brush grilled salmon with reserved soy-honey marinade and, if desired, serve garnished with green onion.

  1. This looks delicious and easy to make! I’ll see if we can grill some this week and try it out! For me, I try my best to eat healthy though sometimes fail miserably! I cook meals on the slow cooker as I love how it really makes any food taste superb! I am also a fan of tofu even though I am not vegetarian or vegan. I just really enjoy it’s taste once cooked!
