Please Vote For Me to be a SEEN Changemaker 2018

I am a dreamer, a dream chaser, and a changemaker.

I struggled with poverty and family abuse for many years. In my young adulthood, I was in an abusive relationship for five years. After I ran away to Shanghai in search of a new life, I fought with hunger until I was 24 years old. I went from being jobless, to a front desk clerk, to a sales person, to an area sales director, training assistant, training manager, and finally a HR manager. After years of hard work, I finally turned my life around. Then, I fell in love and moved to America. After ten years of being happily married, I lost my husband to cancer in January of 2017.

You may think life hasn’t been kind to me, right? I used to feel the same way as well. I often asked myself, “What have I done wrong to be punished over and over again?” In recent years though, I realized that all the hardships that I went through give me the knowledge and experience I need to help others by showing them there is still brightness and hope in their lives!

I would love to be a Changemaker who motivates others by changing their mindset so they can live their dream life. This is why I share my stories. I’m writing a book and working on becoming a motivational speaker to allow me to give back even more. I also would love to be a Changemaker on social media to spread more kindness instead of social anxiety.

Recently, I was nominated as a SEEN Changemaker. For those of you who are not familiar with SEEN Magazine, it is a local magazine that highlights the best Metro Detroit has to offer using a local platform.

What exactly is a SEEN Changemaker?

“SEEN Magazine developed the Changemaker Awards to recognize people in Metro Detroit who go above and beyond to help others and uplift our community through their work,” says SEEN Managing Editor Stephanie Steinberg. “Many people in our area are making a difference in their field. We are excited these awards will highlight our local Changemakers who deserve to be seen and recognized.”

As a social media influencer, I believe that social media should be used as a platform to make a positive impact in the world by giving back to the community. My blog, Color and Grace, has given me the opportunity to work with great organizations such as the Salvation Army and Women Helping Women, as well as highlighting the aspects of Metro Detroit that make it a great place to visit and live.
