There is one question I was often asked during the interview which is, “What is one thing that others don’t know about you?” My answer is always, “I AM A FOODIE!” Yes, I love food, I appreciate the art of cooking and I eat just about everything. Lol! So for a life-long foodie, I know where to find the great food.
In the last few years, so many new restaurants have opened up in the Detroit area. Despite all the new competition one of my long-time favorites is still Iridescence at the MotorCity Casino in downtown Detroit. Why? Featuring spectacular views of the city skyline, Iridescence is Detroit’s premier fine dining experience and has been awarded AAA’s 4-Diamond rating year after year. In 2016 it was rated a coveted “Recommended” by Forbes Travel Guide.
What makes Iridescence stand out, is a very appealing menu paired with an extensive and award-winning wine list. Last week, I was invited to try their brand new menu with mouth-watering distinct and rare ingredients. Warning, you may be drooling! Lol!
Just little something to start the party!
The Raw Bar:
Oysters “Up in Smoke”: Six chef-select oysters on the half-shell, tequila, grapefruit, pink peppercorn (contains alcohol)
I am a lover of Oysters. The record so far for having Oysters are the seven days in a row when I was in Key West, FL a few months ago. Lol! These Oysters are very fresh and yummy!
Hudson Valley Foie Gras: Seared, late-harvest vinegar, fermented honey, crispy strawberries.
Foie Gras is hard to find and for me, if a restaurant dares to serve it, they must really know how to cook it right. Every time when I go to France or try a French restaurant when I travel, this dish is a must for me! I have to say, Hudson Valley Foie Gras is for sure the highlight of my night. It totally made my day! 🙂
Niman Ranch Prime Porterhouse “For Two”: 28-day dry aged, petite vegetables, fondant potatoes.
I guess my eyes are more hungry than my stomach. Lol! I didn’t know it will be this big. But I am still not sharing. It is too good to share. 😉
I can’t find the name on the menu, it must be a surprise for us. But I do remember something with passionfruit, ginger, and honey. I am not a dessert person, and after that big steak, I still ate half of this dessert! It is so light and the honey tastes so good!
Wherever I travel to, I often look for Michelin-starred restaurants. The new Chef Patrick Rodemeyer at Iridescence has worked in a variety of Michelin-starred restaurants such as Picholine, Oceana, and Townhouse by David Burke. I am very glad that now I don’t have to travel far to taste the Michelin-starred level of food!
