Running errands with a comfy style

There are only a few days left before the big holiday and I still need to finish my last minute shopping! 😉 Recently one thought has been on my mind quite often. Who am I? Lol, I know, it sounds so deep and heavy. In China there is a saying: ”when you are in your 40s, there should be no doubting and questioning any more about your life”. But it is so unsure for me. I am still in the stage of finding or creating myself. I thought I was done with this but this blog makes me think even more about what I want to present of myself? I…

How to dress for a weekend!

Turn OFF the alarm! What’s that noise? Sounds like a weekend to me! So I’d better dress for it. And did I ever! Today I’m showing a cool, casual and comfortable look for those two special days you work the other five to enjoy! I started with a long sleeve button down shirt. I’ve mentioned before but it’s worth repeating that a plaid pattern or plain denim are great choices for this useful wardrobe item. They really look great when paired with a colorful sweater. I’ve chosen a pretty purple solid print for today. Some classic skinny jeans are always a good way to compliment the shirt & sweater combination.…

    Boho-Ho-Ho-Ho!

Happy Friday! Another look that puts a smile on my face I can’t erase is this Boho style outfit. A long flowing skirt with a rich warm earth color really anchors this ensemble. I’ve paired the skirt with a long sleeve lace front top that’s covered in very cool fashion with a White House/Black Market denim jacket. I always like to have a little sparkle and got some with the jewel details on my grey knit hat. It serves double duty by adding a touch of sophistication AND keeping my ears from turning red. Not that I don’t like a nice contrast color but not from frostbite! The tan suede…

    SSSSssssssnake skin!

I’m staying with my Day at the Office theme with this very on trend front slit skirt. The tapered skirt continues to just below the knee. This makes for a very ladylike and classic look when paired with a black and white snake skin pattern blouse. The wide black belt nicely cinches my waist to help the blouse flare even more to its black border. I accentuated the high neckline with a statement pearl necklace for a nice and elegant look. But the real highlight is the addition of some very bright and very red stiletto heel shoes that virtually glow against the black tights I wear to keep my…

    Funtastic!

OK. I just can’t help but smile when I look at this outfit. It screams FUN! Topped by a black sweater that’s playful and lighthearted. Well maybe brighthearted is the better description. Shiny bright jeweled hearts, eyes and other designs break up and add welcome color to the warm top. Basic black is always a classic but you can lighten the mood of an outfit by making sure it has some colorful details. Even a brooch or pin with multicolored stones will help to take the somberness down a notch. I went even further by pairing with a leather look “A” shaped short skirt. The above the knee length and…

Wearing my hearts on my sleeve!

Please click pictures to enlarge!!! Today I’m dressed to impress for the office. I’ve got on a dark purple V-neck blouse with an integral and feminine bow. I got this from one of my favorite stores, Ann Taylor. They have some of the better Petite selections in my area. What at first glance looks like a polka dot pattern is actually a heart shaped design for a ladylike feel. A good tip from this ensemble is to go with a mid-length on the ivory colored skirt which also features a high waist. This combination helps to really enhance my figure and doesn’t emphasize my lack of height. With the large…

The fox says “Playful AND Polished”!

Please click the pictures to enlarge!!! Maybe you are familiar with a somewhat silly song called “The Fox”. But you may not know that if you ask “what does the fox say?” to Siri on your Apple device you may just get a silly and fun answer! And fun is the name of the game for today’s outfit. I paired a cute fox themed sweater with some skinny jeans and a button down shirt for a cool, classy yet casual look. When choosing a basic sweater it’s good to pick one with a few bold graphics. Animals, symbols or characters are all good but don’t overdo! It looks best when…

    Say Hello to Yellow!

I’m always in danger when I go to my local shopping mall. No matter what I’m going in for I often come out with something else entirely. That was the case with the bright yellow coat I’m wearing in today’s post. Those devious people at my nearby Macy’s seemed to know I was coming so they baited the trap with a splash of color in a rack right in the aisle where I’d be sure to see it. Actually I always have an idea of where the holes are in my wardrobe and if I see a good item to fill in, AND the price is right, it follows me…

Red boots in sight, style delight!

Alright, what’s going on here? No one told me that blogging would be such hard work! After several long days, I’m getting worn out! I dabbed on a little Prada Candy, my new favorite perfume. This always helps me to relax. It’s a soft, sweet smell and not very strong. Rarely others can notice but I smell it all the time; it is just for me. Not like Kenzo Flower. That is for others to notice…sometimes too much! I gave a bottle to my sister-in-law after she admired mine. She lives in China and often rides the local bus to get around. Apparently she used a little too much and…

    Say Da to Animal Prints!

In today’s post I’m going away a bit from my signature color. Well the bright green Michael Kors purse does keep my streak alive. It also goes to show how even just one eye catching, colorful accessory can make a big difference to an otherwise mostly black and white look. But for me the star of today’s post is my animal fur print hat. I grew up in northern China not too far from the border with Russia. These hats always remind me of the pictures we would see of the Russian women dressed for winter. This outfit would look right at home if I were strolling the streets of…

    Size DOES matter!

I will never be confused with a WNBA player. At just a shade over 5 feet tall this can present some problems when I’m shopping for clothes. To find slacks that don’t cover my shoes or skirts that don’t look like a Grandmother would wear I usually head to the store’s Petite section. When assembling my wardrobe I take extra care to make sure my clothes don’t make me look even shorter than I am. In today’s post you can see that my skirt just covers my knees. And my top fits my form and ends a bit below my waist. That’s another trick for those of us with body…
