    Aiming for the Chic Target

Follow my blog with Bloglovin I rarely buy clothing at Target because they don’t usually have much to fit my body type. If I still had the figure that I had in my twenties then Target would be a go to store. In general, they seem to stock clothing more for younger college age girls. But I have noticed that Target is pretty good at following the latest fashions and isn’t a bad place to shop for trendy pieces at a reasonable price. That’s why, when we were finished filling our cart with the post-Christmas decoration bargains we had come to Target for, I was very pleasantly surprised when I…

    Boxing Day Bargain Hunting!

I always like to go out the day after Christmas to bag all those post-holiday sales on next year’s paper, cards and decorations. There are usually throngs of like minded shoppers at my local Walmart or Target but I always like to stand out from the crowd by keeping comfortable but still stylish. For me a large purse like my tan Michael Kors leather satchel is a good choice. This type of bag is a true classic and its best feature is the cross shoulder strap so I can keep both hands free to dig into those half-off bins of ribbons and bows. I prefer shopping at Target as they…

From Ho, Ho, Ho to Hoo, Hoo, Hooooo.

What a day! I’m looking outside at a beautiful blue sky. The sun is shining and there’s still no snow on the ground! I know the song talks about a white Christmas but I’m really OK with the green grass still showing. We had a great holiday, lots of food and family time. Oh, and maybe some gifts, including a new camera! I hope you’ll be seeing some better pictures as soon as we figure out all the functions! I really love big, fun graphics on an otherwise solid colored sweater. Animals, objects, characters or other graphics really add a bit of whimsy to your outfit. I often mix this…

    Shopping Gear!

Christmas Eve! It was 47 degree yesterday and I don’t think we will get a white Christmas this year in our part of Michigan. But on the plus side, with the warmer weather I don’t need to wear a winter coat when I am shopping. That’s just one less thing to slow you down when you are in the zone! 😉 And I was in the zone! I went to the shops at Village of Rochester Hills and scored some great finds. A new favorite Ivanka Trump winter coat from Carson’s and lots of incredible deals at Ann Taylor Loft and Ann Taylor. I really like this shopping center with…

    Just a little bit edgy!

I used to wear menswear all the time when I was in middle school and high school. Not because I liked it but I didn’t have much choice. They were hand-me-downs from my brother. After a while I got used to it and actually kind of liked it. Back then, I had very short hair and a lot of times people thought I was a boy. LOL! I am surprised as well how feminine I am now. Sometimes I like to pick some trendy piece that reminds me the old times. These wine color leather front skinny slacks are one of my finds and have become my favorite pants this…

What essentials will you need for your January wardrobe in 2015 (Part 1)?

New Year equals new beginnings. Let’s build a new wardrobe that’s not only wearable for a working woman but also in sync with the latest trends. 1. Felt Hat This is the universal type of hat that’s flattering to everybody. Here are some examples. If you are just beginning your hat collection, then the black or brown one with a little feather or leather accent would be a good first purchase. You can use it with almost everything. Especially good if your weather is anything like Michigan’s winter, the wool hats will keep you warm and keep you polished. I found mine at Lord & Taylor, Saks Off 5th Avenue…

Running errands with a comfy style

There are only a few days left before the big holiday and I still need to finish my last minute shopping! 😉 Recently one thought has been on my mind quite often. Who am I? Lol, I know, it sounds so deep and heavy. In China there is a saying: ”when you are in your 40s, there should be no doubting and questioning any more about your life”. But it is so unsure for me. I am still in the stage of finding or creating myself. I thought I was done with this but this blog makes me think even more about what I want to present of myself? I…

How to dress for a weekend!

Turn OFF the alarm! What’s that noise? Sounds like a weekend to me! So I’d better dress for it. And did I ever! Today I’m showing a cool, casual and comfortable look for those two special days you work the other five to enjoy! I started with a long sleeve button down shirt. I’ve mentioned before but it’s worth repeating that a plaid pattern or plain denim are great choices for this useful wardrobe item. They really look great when paired with a colorful sweater. I’ve chosen a pretty purple solid print for today. Some classic skinny jeans are always a good way to compliment the shirt & sweater combination.…

    Boho-Ho-Ho-Ho!

Happy Friday! Another look that puts a smile on my face I can’t erase is this Boho style outfit. A long flowing skirt with a rich warm earth color really anchors this ensemble. I’ve paired the skirt with a long sleeve lace front top that’s covered in very cool fashion with a White House/Black Market denim jacket. I always like to have a little sparkle and got some with the jewel details on my grey knit hat. It serves double duty by adding a touch of sophistication AND keeping my ears from turning red. Not that I don’t like a nice contrast color but not from frostbite! The tan suede…

    SSSSssssssnake skin!

I’m staying with my Day at the Office theme with this very on trend front slit skirt. The tapered skirt continues to just below the knee. This makes for a very ladylike and classic look when paired with a black and white snake skin pattern blouse. The wide black belt nicely cinches my waist to help the blouse flare even more to its black border. I accentuated the high neckline with a statement pearl necklace for a nice and elegant look. But the real highlight is the addition of some very bright and very red stiletto heel shoes that virtually glow against the black tights I wear to keep my…

    Funtastic!

OK. I just can’t help but smile when I look at this outfit. It screams FUN! Topped by a black sweater that’s playful and lighthearted. Well maybe brighthearted is the better description. Shiny bright jeweled hearts, eyes and other designs break up and add welcome color to the warm top. Basic black is always a classic but you can lighten the mood of an outfit by making sure it has some colorful details. Even a brooch or pin with multicolored stones will help to take the somberness down a notch. I went even further by pairing with a leather look “A” shaped short skirt. The above the knee length and…
