    Learning to Talk About Menopause

In Chinese culture, there’s a lot of topics too ‘inappropriate’ to talk about. Many of these taboo subjects are things that happen often and to many people. While in American culture we might be more open about certain things, Chinese culture is the exact opposite. It took me a while to get used to something that was such a culture shock for me. One of the biggest taboo conversations is nearly anything that has to do with women’s bodies. That’s one of the many things I love about America. Talking about these things that are a part of everyday life are important so that you no longer have to struggle…

Behind the Scenes with a Social Media Assistant

By Lois Pele It was a Monday afternoon this spring when I received a long awaited phone call from the social media influencer, Grace Liang. I was nervous to pick up the phone because I knew I was either going to get a positive response or a negative one. After picking up the phone and hearing the words “You’re hired” I texted my friend right away and told him that I have received the job! Before Grace reached out about her assistant position I was exploring other fields. Since I am currently in nursing school, I was looking for an opportunity in the hospital for the summer time but they…

The Importance of Learning Body Wisdom

By Natalie Berger (Grace’s assistant) Sunday evening, I got a phone call. I had recently applied for a position as a personal assistant to rising social media star Grace Liang, known for her chic sense of fashion and lifestyle blogging. I met her for the first time several months ago while I was hosting a podcast and was instantly enamored with her confidence, self-awareness, and can-do attitude. So often people preach “you can do anything you want if you set your mind to it,” but most of the time, those people are just digging into a bag of stock quotes to tell their friends when they are feeling down about…

Join us at the 2019 Michigan Fashion Summit

Hello there! I am excited to be a panelist at this year’s Michigan Fashion Summit. It will take place on September 14, 2019, in Waterford, MI from 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.  A few years old, I had the opportunity to serve as a panelist for the first annual Michigan Fashion Summit. I hosted a workshop at the event and the topic that I covered was about blogging. It was a very pleasant experience!   In the organization’s second year, I will serve as a board member of Fashion Group International Detroit at the event to support the local fashion industry. In addition to this, I will also host a…

Why We Love Madewell 70’s Fashion

Maybe I’m thinking about this a little too soon, but fall fashion is one of my favorite seasons and I already have so many cute outfits planned! Recently fashion trends are just borrowing from past generations, which brings us to the current repeat of 70’s fashion. Sometimes the latest fashion trends, although super cute, aren’t really made for petite adults. Thanks to Madewell, keeping up with style, while staying classy, is made super easy. This outfit is head-to-toe Madewell. But first let’s talk about 70’s fashion in the 70’s. Fashion then was mostly influenced by music genres. You could tell who fell into what cliche category by how they dressed.…

How to Deal With Back to School Anxiety

As most moms when the beginning of the school year approaches, there is a lot to plan for. You must make sure that your child has everything that they need in order to prepare for a brand-new semester, in addition to changing your daily routine and managing your mental health.  This is the best tips that I can give you as a former teacher. 😉 Transitioning from the easygoing summer months to the beginning of the school year is no easy feat. The stress of getting things ready for your children can cause back to school anxiety. Susan G. Komen 3-Day Walk Recap

As I’m writing this Susan G. Komen 3-day walk recap I have frozen bags of peas over the most sore spots on my body. Which isn’t saying much since my whole body is sore. Even so, I would not trade the past 3 days for anything.  When I first learned about the Susan G. Komen walk 10 years ago I was so inspired, but couldn’t financially join the fundraiser group. As most of you know, around 2.5 years ago I lost my late husband to lymphoma . The pain of watching someone you love slowly be lost to cancer is a heart wrenching one that I wouldn’t wish on my…

    Why bloggers are so influential

I feel like a fortune cookie, when I say this, but “you never get a second chance to make a great first impression,”… Either way it’s true. When people started saying this, forever ago, it didn’t hold the same weight as it does now. As technology advanced people have their first impression encounters over social media.  We’ve all found people on social media through a mixture of mutual friends and deep dive instagram stalking. This isn’t as embarrassing when it’s how you found your, now, favorite social media influencers. The first thing you see are their instagram pictures or how their website and blogs are set up. You can quickly…

60 Miles Walk For Breast Cancer In Michigan

The Susan G. Komen Michigan 3-Day Walk is finally here. While reading this, I have joined more than 500,000 people nationwide who have walked 60 miles over 3 days, raising funds to help end breast cancer. I have raised $2,300. It’s a challenge. Walking 3 days for 60 miles is not easy, but it’s not as hard as breast cancer. I know I will be very tired and sore, but I am sure I will be also very inspired by all the amazing people who will walk with me side by side. It will be a once in a life-time journey and I can’t wait to share more details with you next week. So make sure…
