    8 years in America!

8 years in America! Welcome to America! Today is April 19. On this day in 2007 I got on a plane in Shanghai’s Pudong International Airport with my fiancé and flew to Detroit, Michigan, USA. It was a VERY long day. We changed planes in Tokyo and by the time you add in the time to travel to the airport in China, checking in, clearing Chinese customs and waiting to board our plane, it took almost 20 hours for us to finally arrive at what would become my new home. Because of the time zones and crossing the International Dateline it meant that this day actually had about 36 hours…

    casual leather jacket outfit

Casual leather jacket outfit Spring in Michigan is not always that nice and warm. A leather jacket can keep me comfortable and stylish. I like to wear it with jeans on the weekends. Do you have your go to weekend leather looks? Remember that crazy giant truck? The story continues… Good news/bad news! So I had been passing and getting passed by this same huge truck for several miles. I was on Interstate 75 in northern Michigan. We were on our way to spend the weekend at my in-laws house and my husband/driving teacher decided it was a good opportunity for me to practice some high speed freeway driving. It…

Petite fashion—crop top and long skirt

Petite fashion—crop top and long skirt I am not sure if you already noticed, but I am a petite and I am only 5 feet tall. In China we believe the shorties have the better brains. 😉 Anyway, For a petite person like me, long skirts can be pretty challenging. But when I paired it with a crop top, the problem was solved. 🙂 My endless driving story continues… Tag! You’re it! Northern Michigan isn’t what you could call mountainous but there are some pretty good sized hills; actually quite a lot of them. So when they were building the Interstate highway system it seemed a lot easier to have…

how to style a yellow blazer

How to style a yellow blazer What color represents spring better than yellow? None! I am wearing this yellow blazer to my training conference today. Because the dress code is business casual, I paired it with a white skinny jeans and flats. If my brain has to work so hard then it is better that my body is a little bit relaxed. 😉 Here my driving story continues… What goes up must come down! So here I was, driving for my first time on a freeway and at freeway speeds too! We were in northern Michigan so I had that going for me. There was no rush hour traffic and…

how to style a long vest

How to style a long vest I styled this white long vest on the post called What to wear on the airport! Today I am going to Atlanta and I am wearing the exact same vest. Below my driving story continues: All things must pass… So I was driving on the freeway my first time. We were on our way to northern Michigan to visit my in-laws when my husband/driving teacher decided this was a good chance to get me some high speed driving experience. I had spent most of my time behind the wheel so far inside the city limits of the small town we lived in. That meant…

Exclusive Interview with My Arm Charms

Exclusive Interview with My Arm Charms It seems like my blog anniversary is always a special day for me. On the day of my two month anniversary, I received an email from Leslie, the owner of My Arm Charms. She showed big interest in my blog and asked if we can work together. As you all know, I just celebrated my 4 month anniversary a few days ago, so I am basically still a newbie to this blog business. But after I saw all of her cute and affordable bracelets online, I decided to give it a try. My requirement is I must use the bracelet first to see if…

The all-in-one bracelet: Brandy Layered Wrap Bracelet

The all-in-one bracelet: Brandy Layered Wrap Bracelet It seems there are always some pieces in your jewelry cabinet that you go back to over and over. It may be a vintage piece that has sentimental meaning. Or perhaps it’s your latest bit of bling you came across in that trendy new boutique. If you are interested in want more info you can search for it online. The problem often is being able to wear those pieces on a regular basis. I have some large pins and brooches that I really love, but they’re so heavy I have to make sure I’m wearing a sturdy jacket or top to keep from…

SPRING BREAK CANCUN TIPS—CHICHEN ITZA PART 2

SPRING BREAK CANCUN TIPS—CHICHEN ITZA PART 2 One down, six to go! In yesterday’s post I started talking about our day trip we took during our spring break vacation in Cancun. We were at the all inclusive resort of Grand Bahia Principe Coba in Cancun and even though they did a great job of offering enough activities to keep anyone busy, we decided to leave for a day to do some exploring. We booked a trip to the Mayan pyramid and ruins of Chichen Itza with a tour company called Cancun Passion. We got on a colorful and comfortable tour bus and made the 2.5 hour drive from our resort…
