SPRING BREAK CANCUN TIPS—CHICHEN ITZA PART 2

SPRING BREAK CANCUN TIPS—CHICHEN ITZA PART 2 One down, six to go! In yesterday’s post I started talking about our day trip we took during our spring break vacation in Cancun. We were at the all inclusive resort of Grand Bahia Principe Coba in Cancun and even though they did a great job of offering enough activities to keep anyone busy, we decided to leave for a day to do some exploring. We booked a trip to the Mayan pyramid and ruins of Chichen Itza with a tour company called Cancun Passion. We got on a colorful and comfortable tour bus and made the 2.5 hour drive from our resort…

SPRING BREAK CANCUN TIPS—Chichen Itza Part 1

SPRING BREAK CANCUN TIPS—Chichen Itza Part 1 Chicken Pizza? Sounds tasty! We weren’t sure what we wanted to do on our Cancun Spring Break vacation so we just sort of went day by day. We went to the all inclusive resort of Grand Bahia Principe Coba and there’s really no need to ever leave if you don’t want to. There’s plenty to do or lots of places to just chillax if that’s your preference. We weren’t sure which way we wanted to go so didn’t reserve any day trips before we arrived. When we booked our vacation on the Apple Vacations website there were lots of suggested excursions to choose…

    Colorandgrace.com 4 Month Anniversary

Colorandgrace.com 4 Month Anniversary! Four months. One third of a year. Ten dozen posts! If we’d been dating this long we would probably have met each other’s parents by now! And by some crazy coincidence, that’s exactly how long ColorAndGrace.com has been around. I know I’m surprised! I had some jobs that didn’t last this long! So, what do I think? Well one thing is for sure, this can be a lot of work! I am really trying hard to post almost every day. Of course the biggest pressure comes from the person in the mirror. This is pretty common for me. I set goals and then almost immediately, I’m…

SPRING BREAK CANCUN TIPS—Underwater Camera and Watch Review

SPRING BREAK CANCUN TIPS—Underwater Camera and Watch Review Just add water! Expensive electronics such as digital cameras and dressy wristwatches don’t usually get along too well with wet places. And we were going to a resort with 4 swimming pools, a sister resort with another three pools and about a half a mile of beach along the Caribbean. Was this a recipe for disaster? Oh come on. I’m not only a professional bloggers but a smart one too! So we were prepared. My husband had been asking for a “vacation” watch that he could wear to the pool or beach without fear of it becoming a soggy, foggy, non-functional bracelet.…

What to wear for Easter Sunday brunch

What to wear for Easter Sunday brunch Happy Easter!!! Today I am going to show you some new and old outfits that you can wear to an Easter brunch. For me, our brunch is always very casual but most of our relatives still dress up a little. Some of them came right after church and some of them just take it as another lazy Sunday. The food is always good. And spending time with family members, catching up with the newest changes in each other’s lives is relaxing and interesting. I rarely wear a dress or skirt to this brunch and most of the times it’s just jeans. Here is…

What to wear on Easter Sunday

What to wear on Easter Sunday? Let me get this straight, so there’s a big rabbit that lays eggs? I get asked all the time if they celebrate this holiday or that one in China. Easter is one of those ones that is pretty foreign to me. In China a lot of people go out for Valentine’s Day and you can even hear Christmas music in the department stores in December. But Easter is pretty much an unknown to most Chinese. Of course when I first moved to America, my new family members wanted to make sure that didn’t last long. Even though my step-daughter was already in her 20s,…

SPRING BREAK CANCUN TIPS—Grand Bahia Principe Coba Resort Review Part 2

Wait, there’re HOW many pools? In yesterday’s post I told how we had gotten to our resort, the Grand Bahia Principe Coba several hours before we could get into our room. We walked around a bit, ate a couple meals and used up our daily internet allowance while we were waiting. Then promptly at 3pm we were ready to go. These places are usually spread out. You don’t stay in a big building with hundreds of rooms. Instead you will be in one of dozens of similar looking smaller structures they call Villas. At our resort these had 3 floors and maybe 10 or 12 suites on each floor. As…

SPRING BREAK CANCUN TIPS—Grand Bahia Principe Coba Resort Review Part 1

SPRING BREAK CANCUN TIPS—Grand Bahia Principe Coba Resort Review I’m full, let’s eat! When you go on vacation what kind of lodging choices do you look for? One of the old standbys; So-and-so Inn: Or Such-and-such Suites? There is nothing wrong with these places. I’ve stayed in many of the big chain hotels for days, weeks and even months and always had a good experience. But this was usually for business travel, either mine or sometimes I would accompany my husband on his work trips. When it’s your big vacation trip of the year though, you want something a bit more out of the ordinary. A place more geared to…

Spring break Cancun tips—what to pack for a one week beach all inclusive vacation

Spring break Cancun tips—what to pack for a one week beach all inclusive vacation What should your suitcase look like for traveling to Cancun in April? My husband and I have done quite a bit of travelling and are getting pretty good for not only packing, but packing light. One thing you learn is how much you can pack and not use. So after a few times repacking clean clothes to take home at the end of the trip, I have cut down a lot. For example on our just finished spring break 7 night trip, we only took one full size suitcase and one carryon bag for 2 people…
