How To Determine The Real Value Of Your Collectible Item

The value of a lot of Dale Earnhardt collectibles varies based on condition, rarity, size, and authenticity. Determining if the item is authentic is the main reason why signed pieces are so much more in demand.

Here are a few factors that will affect the value of Dale Earnhardt collectibles:

  • Rarity – Like with all collectible items, the rarer the item, the more valuable it will be. Let’s say that there are only a handful of autographed cards, pass tickets, and letters in existence, so they are worth a lot more than for instance signed images.
  • Condition – The condition is always crucial. A mint condition will be worth more than an item graded with a fine or good grade, not to mention if the item has been damaged.
  • Authenticity – Nothing will enhance the value of a collectible item as a COA. A piece of Dale Earnhardt memorabilia with his signature and certificate of authenticity increases the value at least 10 times over. A great example is his Wrangler Jeans jacket that he wore during the NASCAR Winston Cup series. The retail price of this jacket was $100, but with his signature on the back, the price jumped to an amazing $4,000! Amazon. Also, the jacket received a hologram of authentication.
  • Size – Logically, larger items will cost more. This is especially true when it comes to diecast cars which come in many different sizes.
  • Age – If you have an item from Dales’s early racing years you have a jackpot item in your possession. The fact is that these items are limited in number and very rare, thus they are hard to acquire, which leads us to increased prices.
  • Demand – When it comes to collectible items what plays a preeminent role is supply and demand. If some item is rare but no one is looking for it it has no actual value.

Learn how to recognize a fake item from a real deal

Unfortunately, when it comes to memorabilia related to a famous person such as Dale Earnhardt, there are a lot of replicas and fake items on the market. out there. A lot of people will take advantage of someone’s passion for collecting memorabilia to make a fortune.

So to avoid ending up spending a lot of money on something that’s not even real, make sure you learn how to recognize a fake item from a real one. Here are some helpful tips:

  • Take a good long look – Let’s be honest if the item looks too good and perfect, the chances are high it is fake. Even those ones that are in a good condition might be a fake. Since most of these collectibles originate from the 1980s and 1990s some signs of wear are a must.
  • If the price is unreal – Knowing the average price of a classic collectible item will help you a lot to spot a fake one. If the price is unrelasticly low or even high, that is a scam. Dale Earnhardt’s collectibles are valuable, however, that does not mean that everything related to him will have a spectacular price.
  • Lack of COA – Unfortunately, not all items can have COA, but make sure you look for the ones that have it. Especially if you are looking for memorabilia in a higher price range.
  • Choose the seller carefully – Never buy an item from an untrusted source and unreputable seller. Buying collectible items is an investment so make sure you do your research well in time. You don’t go to battle without appropriate equipment, so don’t go hunting rare items without knowledge about them!
