Behind the scenes of Runway Repurposed fashion show

Behind the scenes of Runway Repurposed fashion show The 8th annual Runway Re-purposed fashion show is a unique, eco-friendly fashion design competition. Each designer needs to use at least 70% of the recycled clothing and materials that were donated by the local residents and businesses. You can read more details from my previous post here. As I said, this show is near and dear to my heart because I was a small part of it when it just started. Below are a few photos from back in 2008 and 2009 when I entered the competition. Talk about a Throw Back! For the 2008 inaugural show I was into the military…

    Runway re-purposed 2016 fashion show

Runway re-purposed 2016 fashion show They say you can’t go home again. But I did. That is I returned to the town I called home when I first moved to America almost 9 years ago. Why? Well my step-son still lives there and it was his birthday Sunday and also to attend and cover a fashion show. But wait a minute you say, you remember that I lived in a very small town back then. It’s true, it was small but it also had a lot going on for it’s size! Known as the Runway Re-purposed Fashion Show it’s been held every February for 8 years now in Howell, Michigan.…

1st Annual Fashion Winter Ball fashion show linkup

1st Annual Fashion Winter Ball fashion show linkup This past Saturday I was invited to the 1st Annual Fashion Winter Ball fashion show at the International Institute in Detroit, Michigan. It was hosted by the Young Socialites Kid Clothing and Model Magazine. I have been to many adult fashion shows. Although there are some models who are only 13 years old, they surly don’t look like kids. Most of the models in this show were under 12 years old. And some of them were WAY under 12! There were a few toddlers who couldn’t have been much more than 2 years old! They barely could walk, and some of them…

Fashion designer Vino Supraja interview and fashion linkup

Fashion designer Vino Supraja interview and fashion linkup A few weeks ago I covered a local fashion event and that was where I met Vino Supraja. You can read those posts here and here She is an upcoming fashion designer who has a very unique fashion sense. Here are the interview questions I asked about her and her brand. 1. I know you are from India. You graduated from the IFA Paris school and studied in Shanghai, China. And now you run your fashion business in Michigan, U.S.A. That seems like a long journey with a somewhat unusual destination. I’ve also come from Shanghai to the Detroit area so we…

Brett Johnson Autumn/Winter 2015 Trunk Show and Fashion Linkup

Brett Johnson Autumn/Winter 2015 Trunk Show and Fashion Linkup There are quite a few men who have asked me about tips and suggestions for men’s fashion throughout my blogging career. I always tell them that I only know how to dress up my own man. And believe me, that can be a fulltime job! šŸ˜‰ I was invited to the Brett Johnson Autumn/Winter 2015 Trunk Show this past Saturday at Neiman Marcus in the Somerset Collection in Troy, Michigan. So I brought this exact question to the designer and founder himself; what are the fashion tips that he can give to those guys who want to look sharp and classy.…

RAINN Fashion on Common Ground: Designer Showcase & Trunk Show Part 1!

RAINN Fashion on Common Ground: Designer Showcase & Trunk Show part 1! What are you doing this weekend? Me? I’m working. Well, fashion blogger work that is. So it’s really more like a party! I am going to a fashion event. But this one is not just another fashion event. It is a Charity fashion event. After I moved to America, I observed first hand how generous Americans are. They are often the first to raise their hand and reach for their wallets to help others around the world. I remember back in 2008 when Southen China had a rare and severely damaging ice storm, there were a lot of…

Fashion designer Tracy Reese returns to Detroit

You all know I love color. You probably all know of Tracy Reese too. If not, you really need to get out more! And you need to keep reading too. Anyway, when I think of Tracy Reese’s designs I feel a combination of excitement and comfort. I’ve only lived in Michigan for a bit over 8 years now and the Detroit area even less. The city has had such a bad reputation for so long that I wasn’t really looking forward to living so close. But I’m very pleased and a bit surprised to report that the more I go into the city and see and experience it first hand,…
