NYFW trip I just want to go home!

NYFW trip I just want to go home! So, we got to NYFW in February. The flight out was a little tough and the time there was a little freezing but now it was time to go home. We had only been there for 2 nights but that’s all the time I had off work. Well, actually I had Monday and Tuesday off for the President’s Day holiday weekend but I always like to have at least one day to relax before I head back into the office. So we flew out early Saturday morning and had a 5pm return flight on Monday scheduled. My plan was to do a…

NYFW Trip-Part 2 Was that a polar bear I just saw in Times Square?

NYFW Trip-Part 2 Was that a polar bear I just saw in Times Square? Well, we made it to New York’s JFK airport. The flight was noisy, the landing rough and scary but here we were on the ground and looking into the best way to get to our hotel in Manhattan’s Financial District. We knew taxis were expensive and because there was really no day or time that it wasn’t rush hour in the Big Apple, we asked around for some advice. The man who was working at the airport shuttle train suggested taking the “A Train”. He explained this was the express route and we’d be there in…

NYFW 16 Getting to NYC, the hard way

NYFW 16 Getting to NYC, the hard way So I’ve been posting about my coverage of the many fashion shows I got invited to in the recent New York Fashion Week. I hope you’ve enjoyed the coverage and photos. But what about the trip itself? I am SO glad you asked! This was both the trip of my dreams and the stuff of nightmares! I had a long 4 day weekend from my day job for the President’s Day holiday. But since I always like to have a day to recover before heading back to work and because this trip was completely on our dime we decided to go for…

    Happy Chinese New Year!

Happy Chinese New Year! I’ve created a monster. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a great monster but a monster still. Let me start at the beginning. I moved to America in April, 2007. Early the next year I was trying to figure out how to keep my tradition of celebrating Chinese New Year going in my new home country. My new family and I were still sort of getting to know each other but I had gotten pretty close to my step-daughter from the day I stepped off the plane. I had also gotten to know a lot of our neighbors. That’s one of the nice things about living in…

Travel recap Oh, take a hike

Travel recap Oh, take a hike Well we had survived our first night without any unauthorized bumps in the night. We had stopped for a couple days of down time to unwind from our vacation in NYC. So my husband had found an old hotel that had been refurbished into a very nice looking Bed & Breakfast Inn. The only thing that wasn’t advertised was the fact that it had a reputation of being haunted! There was even a review on one of the rating websites telling of all kinds of noises and other unpleasant experiences. If that reviewer was to be believed it was so bad they had to…

Travel recap New York State of Mind

Travel recap New York State of Mind I made it! The Big Apple. NYC. Finally. I’d been to bigger cities. Shanghai, Beijing and Seoul all had more people in them. But none of them had so many places that so many people had dreamed of for so long. Times Square; Broadway, 5th Avenue, Wall Street, Radio City Music Hall, Central park and of course, the Statue of Liberty have been at the center of countless books, movies, songs and stories. So how could I be anything else but PUMPED UP! It was a Tuesday mid-morning in July and we were on our way to our hotel in the Fashion District.…

    Stratford Festival

Stratford Festival—To see or not to see… It was GREAT! Thanks for asking! Oh, wait, you didn’t ask! And why not? I told you all I was on vacation a couple weeks ago but no one asked how it was. Well to be fair, I was tweeting and posting the whole time but that’s no excuse! Oh well, it doesn’t really matter, I’m going to tell you all about it anyway. And don’t worry, I’m not going to set up the slideshow! So, as I said, our vacation was great. One of the better ones. You know, so good that you’re afraid to take the next one because you’re worried…
