Travel recap Oh, take a hike

Travel recap Oh, take a hike Well we had survived our first night without any unauthorized bumps in the night. We had stopped for a couple days of down time to unwind from our vacation in NYC. So my husband had found an old hotel that had been refurbished into a very nice looking Bed & Breakfast Inn. The only thing that wasn’t advertised was the fact that it had a reputation of being haunted! There was even a review on one of the rating websites telling of all kinds of noises and other unpleasant experiences. If that reviewer was to be believed it was so bad they had to…

    New York Trip Recap

New York Trip Recap Dim sum. That’s what was on my mind as I woke up for our first full day in NYC. And where better to get it than in Chinatown? So that was our first destination. We asked the hotel concierge how the subway worked and went to try it out. We found the station no problem. Went down the stairs to the ticket window, bought our passes, made our way through the turnstiles and onto the platform. The wrong platform. No problem, I’m sure we can just go up some stairs and across to the one with the trains going the direction we wanted to go. Look…

Travel recap New York State of Mind

Travel recap New York State of Mind I made it! The Big Apple. NYC. Finally. I’d been to bigger cities. Shanghai, Beijing and Seoul all had more people in them. But none of them had so many places that so many people had dreamed of for so long. Times Square; Broadway, 5th Avenue, Wall Street, Radio City Music Hall, Central park and of course, the Statue of Liberty have been at the center of countless books, movies, songs and stories. So how could I be anything else but PUMPED UP! It was a Tuesday mid-morning in July and we were on our way to our hotel in the Fashion District.…

    Stratford Festival

Stratford Festival—To see or not to see… It was GREAT! Thanks for asking! Oh, wait, you didn’t ask! And why not? I told you all I was on vacation a couple weeks ago but no one asked how it was. Well to be fair, I was tweeting and posting the whole time but that’s no excuse! Oh well, it doesn’t really matter, I’m going to tell you all about it anyway. And don’t worry, I’m not going to set up the slideshow! So, as I said, our vacation was great. One of the better ones. You know, so good that you’re afraid to take the next one because you’re worried…

    SPRING BREAK CANCUN GENERAL TIPS

SPRING BREAK CANCUN GENERAL TIPS Palm trees in the morning, snow flurries in the afternoon. NOOOOOOOO! So our day trip to the Mayan ruins at Chichen Itza was over. We had one full day left on vacation and then it was time to get up early again and head to the airport. Last year we weren’t sure if we would like an all-inclusive resort so just tried a short 4 night stay. That was good enough for us to up our game to a full week this time around. On this trip, somewhere between the lunch buffet and the chaise lounge at the beach on about the third day, we…

SPRING BREAK CANCUN TIPS—CHICHEN ITZA PART 3

SPRING BREAK CANCUN TIPS—CHICHEN ITZA PART 3 Warning! Hot sauce ahead! If you’ve been following my posts (Thanks!) you know that my husband and I went to sunny and warm Cancun, Mexico for our spring break vacation a couple weeks ago. We stayed in the all-inclusive resort of Grand Bahia Principe Coba. Even though they had plenty to keep us occupied, we decided to take a daytrip to see one of the 7 Wonders of the Modern World in nearby Chichen Itza. In the last couple posts I introduced you to our tour team and the site of Chichen Itza itself. Now it was time for lunch! We all got…
