What to wear to a graduation party—The ultimate guide
It is that time of year again and there are so many graduation parties to go to. You can read What to wear to a graduation party from last year. Below are more suggestions for this year. They are updated of course to incorporate more of this year’s trends. And the overall point I wanted to make here is, add fun factors to your outfit whenever you can! Show off your playful and youthful vibe. It is a graduation party with all the laughs and hopes for the future. There is nothing to be serious about, after all, you have a future too. So in this year’s post, I will focus on how to look fun, not just pretty. You can read my last year’s post here for that purpose. 😉
A little dressy party:
I know most of the graduation parties are happening in a backyard somewhere. But there are also some that are slightly more fancy parties out there too. For me, a colorful fit and flare dress will be a perfect choice. Why? The colors fit in with the season and this fit and flare style is a universally flattering dress for everybody. Who doesn’t want to look their best when you go to a party? For both of the looks below, I either use a fun hair piece or a necklace to bring up the playful vibe.
An indoor casual party:
There are a lot of people who have their kid’s graduation parties at a club house, a community center or some other larger indoor place. Since it is a casual party, basically you can wear pretty much anything. But the bar may be set a bit higher if you happen to be the mom, aunt or maybe even grandmother of the graduate. That still doesn’t mean you have to be stiff and serious. Sometimes it’s ok to just tag along with those kids. They just may find out you are a cool person in their life. For your casual outfit, you can play with colors, prints to add a little bit of a fun and playful vibe as below. A graphic tee and a leather jacket can help you look younger and cooler.
A garden party:
I guess this is probably the most popular place to have this kind of party. Family and friends gathered together for a BBQ. I know, high heels are not very practical for walking on the lawn but hopefully you won’t have to step foot off the patio. 😉 If not, wear wedges to get the height you desire if you are a petite woman like me. At least that way you won’t get stuck in the grass! 😉
For most of us, the fast and easy way to pull off a graduation party look will be a floral fit and flare dress. So here are some suggestions for less than $100.
Just keep one thing in mind, please don’t impress the new graduate or their friends by showing off your cleavage or any sexiness. There are better places for that purpose.
