Booty Shawl—BUILDING A BUSINESS AROUND BOOTYS
As you all know, I am fully into promoting our local talents. You can read many interviews and events I have promoted at my MICHIGAN FASHION EVENTS/INTERVIEWS page on this blog. And today you are going to meet another outstanding Michigan small business—Booty Shawl
I know the title Booty Shawl—BUILDING A BUSINESS AROUND BOOTYS sounds a little bit unusual. So you need to read on to find out what exactly it is about. 😉 The article below is from the Booty Shawl founder Patricia Breen
For 30 years, advertising has been a great teacher. I’ve worked as a writer at most all of the big agencies in the area. No surprise, on autos. But perhaps surprisingly, on a myriad of other things. When the bottom fell out in 2007, I decided to leave the automotive arena. I entered again in 2008, with a new mission. Health care. It aligned my outside interests with my advertising career, using something similar to an invoice template to keep track of everything. I hear that a lot of the big agencies these days use software to manage your reputation. Might be something worth considering if you want to learn more about PR. There are so many things that you will want to consider when you are running your own business, as you want to make sure that things run smoothly. If you are still unsure about what needs to be done, then you need to make sure that you do your research now. For example, you might learn that you need to use something like selective invoice finance. However, there might be a load of other things that you can do to help your business.
When I’m not in front of a computer keyboard, I’m a fitness instructor- pilates and aquatics. I’ve trained people from a 92 -year -old WWII nurse to Carolina Panthers quarterback, Cam Newton. And everyone in between. With most clients, my job is to undo the damage 10-12 hours a day in front of a computer does. As you can imagine, I spend a lot of time changing from tights into bathing suits and then into business attire. Booty Shawl was born out of necessity.
In my daily travels here and there, I needed a functional, well-designed accessory that I could slip on over tights and go. Something versatile, fashionable, flattering that polished the profile while I ran errands, went to the office or out with friends. Because who wants to wear long tunic tops all the time?
Like a scarf for your neck, Booty Shawl is a wrap for your bum. It expands your wardrobe so you can wear all your favorite short tops with tights and feel good about yourself. Think of it not so much as a cover up, but as a confidence booster.
And confidence is really what the Booty Shawl brand is about. Giving women of all ages, sizes and shapes an extra bit of self-assurance. In today’s world of impossible body imagery, to be comfortable and confident in your own skin is a gift. We’re here to encourage that. Our motto is “we’ve got your back.” Since Day 1, we strive to live that.
One way is by hiring local. Opportunities abound overseas for manufacturing cheaply. But we believe in keeping people here working. It costs more, but the value is immeasurable. Lisa Gillenwater, our head of production is local. Bill Morgan, our head of graphic design is local. Award-winning photographer, Joe Vaughn is local. So were the Booty Shawl models. Which were all shot locally in and around Detroit. That motto will continue to guide our growth in the future.
I went to Paris to learn how to cook. I went to Tokyo to learn how to get around with minimal language skills. I went to South Africa to see elephants. I stayed home to build my business.”
Now you’ve got an idea what the Booty Shawl is all about. And below are the ways that I wear my favorite Booty Shawl.
1. Isabella Wrapalini in Shimmer helps me in transitioning from workout gear to an out and about look.
Without:
With it for a quick fix. It can be pulled up quite high so no unnecessary skin is showing.;)
With it for a more sophisticated look. Still for another out and about look but with a bit more style.
2. Audrey Hipburn with pockets in Granite Spandex can take multi duty in my wardrobe.
A. Comfy pool cover. I am not very confident with my tummy so this black cutie gives me the ease that I need when I am relaxing. 😉
B. Help transitioning from summer to fall by adding the extra layer to create the City Chic vibe.
3. Stella Draper in Leaf Heather. Easy to be dressed up or down.
A. The stylish layer adds dimension for an active look. I wore this one to my first 5K last weekend.
B. The life saver for a crop top. For some occasions where you don’t want to show your tummy, use the Booty shawl to make it happen. You may all have seen this black crop top on me before.
By itself, maybe not office appropriate but now you can wear it to work with a little help from Booty Shawl.
Now go get yours and rock it in your own way! 🙂
