Today I turn 45 years old. Looking back to the first half of my life, I have to say, I am a lucky person. Despite all the hardships that I had gone through, I ended up today still alive, healthy, and doing what I love. I still have the ability to love and be loved. What else could I need?
Two summers ago, I was called back to get my second mammogram because the doctor was concerned about the result of my first one. After the second one was done, I was sent to the waiting room for the result. That half hour I spent was probably the longest 30 minutes of my life. I was shaking, it almost felt like there was no air in my lungs. Thinking to myself how can I handle breast cancer alone right after I lost my late husband. Luckily, they found nothing bad from the second mammogram!
But there are so many women out there who are not so lucky.
Please support me as I take on an incredible challenge to make an impact in the fight to end breast cancer. I have signed up for The Susan G. Komen 3-Day® walk in Michigan this August. It isn’t just a 60-mile walk over the course of three days—it’s a journey to the end of breast cancer. Komen has a bold goal—to reduce the current number of breast cancer deaths by 50% in the U.S. by 2026. That’s why I’m walking and raising money—to make that goal a reality.
I would love to give away my birthday celebration to someone else, so that they may have the chance to celebrate their next birthday!
You can help me with this in three ways:
1. Donate! No money is too little! My goal is $2,300 and now I’m at $165.
2. Join my team! The three-day walk will be on 8/2-8/4 in Michigan. You can go to http://bit.ly/2TjfxeF, then register and click join a team, and look for Color and Grace.
This year, my birthday wish is for some woman out there to get the chance to celebrate her next birthday because of all of the love and support she has received from us! Let’s beat breast cancer together!
